The press conference of the upcoming Bengali thriller Amanush 2 took place in the presence of director Rajib, Soham, Payel, Anindya, Surojit, music director Arindom and lyricist Prosen.
“Amanush 2 is not a sequel to the earlier film Amanush which also featured Soham in a lead role. This is a nail biting thriller which according to me will keep the audiences glued to their seats in the theatre. I have huge expectations from the film as we have all worked hard” said director Rajib.
The story of this upcoming Bengali film is about a young man named Raghu who impersonates his acquaintances. When someone discovers his true identity, he immediately kills the person. He was a good student at school. But after his father’s suicide, trouble begins in his life. He sets his house on fire, which kills his mother. As a result he ends up in a juvenile home. When he is released he goes away to begin life afresh. On his journey to Chennai, he meets Saleem and befriends him. The bus meets with an accident and Saleem dies. Raghu impersonates his identity and makes friends with Suresh, Ria and Ashok at medical college. One day Raghu along with his friends meet the juvenile warden who reveals his true identity. That is where the story takes a turn.
Soham who plays the role of Raghu in the film said “When I did Amanush, I did not know that it will be accepted so much by the audience. Hence we thought of making Amanush 2. But with this film our responsibilities have grown double as people will be expecting so much from us. While shooting we got positive vibes from the people and hence we are all very positive about the outcome of this film”.
Payel Sarkar who will be seen as Ria in the film looked pretty in the sleeveless top and the elaborate neckpiece which she teamed stylishly with her outfit. “I have worked with Soham before in films like Prem Amar and we have a great and comfortable working equation. Working with Rajib da is a great thing as we started our career together. Till now we did not get the chance to work together. But with this film we got the chance to work together. I am the newest addition to Amanush team and the great story coupled with the great team made me say yes to this project”.
Soham when asked about some memorable moments on the set said “There were many incidents but I will not reveal them as the audience will lose interest in the film. However one incident that I will surely relate is my lens wearing sessions. I had to wear lenses which were a big deal for me. It used to take me about fifteen minutes to put on or remove the lenses. This was at times more tough than Raghu the character that I play in the film”.
Actor Surojit who has played many grey shaded characters in Rajib’s early films like Bindaas was full of praises for the director. “Rajib da always gave me interesting characters. The role that I play in Amanush 2 is one of the most interesting characters that I have played till now. Also, I must say that Bittu (Soham) has essayed out Raghu so flawlessly that the audiences will surely be impressed. There is no actor in the industry who could have more convincingly done this role”.
Music director Arindom revealed that the director briefed him to compose such music which would suit the film. “I had no pressure of giving hit masala songs. I just had to focus on making interesting music which would help to carry forward the narrative”.
Venkatesh Films’ Amanush 2 is eying for a release on the Bengali New Year day.
