Jubilant Bhartia Foundation and Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship are pleased to announce the opening of entries for the much coveted ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year'(SEOY) India 2014 Awards. The applicants are evaluated on key parameters of innovation, sustainability, reach and social impact. The applications will be accepted till May 31, 2014. Finalists will be selected following an intensive search and selection process, including expert reviews and site visits. The winner will be announced at a high-profile award event on 4thNovember 2014 in New Delhi.
Social Entrepreneurs are innovators, who implement practical and sustainable solutions to address challenges in numerous areas including health, education, environment, job creation and access to technology. Whether they are set up as for-profit entities, hybrid social ventures or not-for-profit organizations, their primary focus is transformational social change. Social entrepreneurs develop a revenue stream through the sale of products, services, fees or develop key partnerships to achieve sustainability. The award promotes social entrepreneurs in India by recognizing organizations that work to promote inclusive growth and contribute to bring change to society through their entrepreneurial vision.
The winners of the ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year’ India 2014 Awards will join the global community of Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneurs of the year 2014, and will participate in the relevant annual and regional meetings of the World Economic Forum, which provides unprecedented opportunities to engage with global decision makers from the public, corporate, media, academic, and civil society sectors.
Jubilant Bhartia Foundation joined hands with the Schwab Foundation in the year 2010 for the SEOY Award in India. The winner for Social Entrepreneur of the Year India 2013, Ms. Chetna Sinha of Mann Deshi Group of Ventures, was awarded by the Finance Minister of India, Shri P Chidambaram at a well-attended ceremony in New Delhi. The winners are selected by a prominent Jury consisting of Eminent Professionals from different walks of life.
P. C. Chandra Puraskaar 2014 was conferred upon the internationally acclaimed flautist of India, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia on the eve of the Founder’s Day of the organization. This event took place at the Science City auditorium in the presence of eminent personalities like Shri. Altamas Kabir, Shri Binoy Kumar Chandra, Shri Abhijit Laha and Shri Amitava Chandra.
The P.C. Chandra Puraskaar was introduced in the year 1993 as a tribute to the founding father of the P. C. Chandra Group, the late Purna Chandra Chandra. The P. C. Chandra Puraskaar has been awarded since its inception to many iconic personalities like Late Manna De, Sourav Ganguly, Anju Bobby George, Hema Malini, Gulzaar, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Mrinal Sen and many more. The people who get this award are some of the illustrious names in their respective fields and have excelled to great heights making the country proud of their achievements.
On the occasion of the Founder’s Day celebrations, P. C. Chandra Group also unveiled their new logo celebrating seventy five years of their golden journey in this business. Speaking on the event, Shri Amitava Chandra said “We are associated with this industry for seventy five years now. The journey has been illustrious as we have been able to retain the faith and trust of the customers and also maintain the good quality of work”.
Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, the recipient of this year’s award said “I am overwhelmed on receiving this award. The prize amount is huge and I will spend it on my musical school. In my limited way I will be helping students to get better training in music. This will be a good way of contributing to their well being as their Guru”.
Merit scholarships were also handed over to the children of the employees of this organization for academic excellence in their board examinations. Veteran employees were given long service awards for their service and loyalty.

Vivel and Filmfare will be organizing one of the most prestigious film awards in the eastern part of the country, the Filmfare awards 2013. Established in 1953, Filmfare awards now makes its debut in the east to celebrate artistic and cinematic excellence in the Bengali, Oriya and Assamese films. The Black lady was launched recently amidst much fanfare by Tollywood Hero Prosenjit Chatterjee, Mr. Sandeep Kaul (Chief executive, ITC Limited) and Mr. Tarun Rai (CEO, Worldwide Media).
Commenting on the first Vivel Filmfare Awards 2013, Mr. Tarun Rai said “After sixty years the Black lady is making its debut in the East. Bengali cinema has a very rich tradition and it has already completed ninety five years. The contribution of this industry to Indian cinema is huge. It is witnessing a resurgence and Filmfare is proud to be here to celebrate the immense talent of the Bengali film Industry”.

The Filmfare awards will be presented in twenty one categories to individuals excelling in the various fields of film making. The main event will be held on 29th March at Science City auditorium.
