The Audio Music album launch of the new music album “Diary” of the band “Robi o Nobin” took place at New Light media Centre in the presence of Surojit Chatterjee. This six member band is an absolutely new addition to the Bengali music scenario. The band consists of six members- Soumitro Roy, Irene Sarkar, Robin Lai, Chicky, Monty and Arjyesh Ray. The band also launched another album titled “Dheere Dheere” recently. The album Diary has been brought out by the esteemed music company Hindustan Records.
The album Diary is like the pages of a diary written by an individual. The songs in the album are as varied as the entries that a person makes in a diary. The ten songs are meant to give a feeling of turning around the pages of a diary. “Aami” deals with introspection when Soumitro was in Bagdogra surrounded by tea gardens, “Sobujer porisbesh” is inspired from a monsoon afternoon in Harishchandrapur, “melar gaan” is about a village fair, “maa go” is dedicated to the mothers, “O Malala” is for Malala Yousafzai and such others. The songs are varied in content and the treatment is also different. The song “aami Traffic constable” is based on the Kolkata Traffic constables and has become an instant hit with the Kolkata police authorities.
Speaking on the occasion of the Audio Music album launch Soumito Ray said “The band has been created out of demand. I want to break the image that I had of a singer of a Bengali Band. I wanted to try out the other singing genres. Hence I felt the urge to start a new band with new singers. Irene’s voice blends beautifully with any song and Arjyesh’s great drumming capability helped me immensely in the making of this album”.
Surojit Chatterjee who was also present at the occasion wished Soumitro the very best of luck for his endeavor at singing a different genre of songs and for recreating his image as a versatile singer.
Diary will be a good album for the listeners. The variety of songs will surely appeal to the tastes of the audiences of all age groups equally. We wish the band all the best for their musical journey.
