New Rabindra Sangeet Album ‘Ashruto Rabindranath’ Features Unheard Songs of Tagore

The Pankaj Mullick Foundation of Music and Art released an audio CD Ashruto Rabindranath- Tagore Unheard at Press Club. The album consists of musical compositions made by the collaborations of Pankaj Kumar Mullick and Rabindranath Tagore. Rajib Gupta (Grandson of Mullick) & Jhinuk Gupta (Granddaughter-in-law) conceived the idea of the cd which features eight unheard songs. Mr S.F.Karim (Chief Business Manager, Saregama), Bickram Ghosh, Tanmoy Bose, veteran television presenter Pankaj Saha graced the evening along with performers.

The audio CD revolves around the reflection of Rabindrasangeet in the life of music maestro Pankaj Kumar Mullick with a special focus on those songs that had lyrics by Tagore and music by Pankaj Kumar Mullick. Eventually, he was the only music composer whom Tagore allowed to set tune to his lyrics. He even used Tagore songs in Bengali films for the first time. Pankaj Kumar Mullick also played a key role in popularizing Tagore songs back then. He even used Tagore tunes his way in Hindi film songs composed by him.

Each song has a historical significance besides many untold stories. There are also songs composed on request of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to encourage Bengalis after the Bhasa Andolan took place in Bangladesh. Mullick set tunes to the poems Prashno ( Bhagaban Tumi Dut Pathayechho), Suprabhat ( Rudra Tomar Darun Dipti).

The CD also contains a rare picture with Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, and Satyajit Ray’s quotation about the musical maestro,”Pankaj Mullick earned legendary fame and popularity as a singer and teacher of Rabindrasangeet. He devoted his whole life to this cause using the media of the film, the radio and the gramophone – he succeeded in endearing himself to music loving Indians all over the country.”

Ashruto Rabindranath-Tagore Unheard CD will be a collector’s delight for sure.

The name Chirodini Tumi Je Amar 2 leads most of us to believe that it is a sequel of the 2008 Rahul-Priyanka starrer block buster Chirodini Tumi Je Amar and when asked about the same, the director Mr. Soumik Chatterjee brushed aside such claims and said that this movie is very different from the previous one and the name is just a means to reach out to the audience.

This movie, along with its very promising script has many important aspects to look forward to as here the audience will get to see popular Bengali Comedian Kharaj Mukherjee’s son Bihu Mukherjee playing the role of a villain (At 17, probably the youngest), Popular Film and Television as well as theater actor Mr. Kaushik Sen’s son Riddhi Sen playing the role of the Hero Arjun Chakraborty’s friend, Ms. Urmila Mohanta, an FTI Pune graduate who has previously acted in Ketan Mehta’s Mountain Man opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui making her Tollywood debut and many more such interesting first of its kind attempts.

The audio music album of this New Kolkata Bengali Movie was also launched during the meet and the occasion was graced by Ustad Rashid Khan whose daughter Suha Khan is making her debut as a playback singer with this movie, Tollywood’s Superhit music director Jeet Ganguli, the young and beautiful Suha herself and Bineet Maitra (son of editor actor Ravi Ranjan Maitra) who has scored the background music for this film and is also one of the youngest members of the musical team to contribute in such a big way. Along with introducing his young and practically new team of singers Mr. Jeet Ganguli also sang the Arijit Singh Song ‘Eka Ekela Mon’, which is already a rage with the audience for the assembled guests.

The Chirodini Tumi Je Amar 2 music is already a hit with the masses and from the looks of it, even the film is expected to go well with the cine goers as well as the box office, as the hard work that the team has put in seemed quite evident from the trailers that were shown during the press meet.

Arjun Chakraborty, who has already established himself as a versatile actor with his performance in his last movie Jodi Love Dile Na Praane is quite hopeful about this new project too. When asked about his chemistry with his new co-star Arjun only had to say “Go watch the film and give me the verdict”.

This new Bengali movie has given a platform to many young and highly talented actors, all of whom have put in their heart and soul to just give in their best performance and we wish the team of Chirodini Tumi Je Amar 2 All the Success and hope Bengal gets a much awaited Box Office Hit with the Bengali New Year.
