Video: Rituraj Sen’s Video Launch of Tumhare Shahar Ka Mausam

Rituraj Sen’s video launch of Tumhare Shahar Ka Mausam took place recently. This is a track from his album Khayal. A student of the eminent musician A. R. Rahman, this is the first music album of the musician and his second video release.

Present at the music launch were Mehuli Sarkar, Abhinandan Dutta, Sam Samax, Rituraj Sen and others. The composer of the album is Baloo Dutta.

Khayal is a new way of presenting Ghazals. By the use of different instruments and new musical arrangements, the new album tries to blend the two styles keeping the authenticity of the composition intact. The style of composing the songs is traditional and the presentation is contemporary.

“My uncle Baloo Dutta, a disciple of Ghulam Ali, composed these songs many years ago and I grew up listening to them. It was then that I decided that I will make this into an album. I came back from Bangladesh and started recording the songs in 2014. I hope the audience love the songs” said the musician.

Musical Event Mohona 2017 To Bring Musicians From India and Bangladesh on One Platform

Mohona 2017-the confluence is an initiative by 87 Ward Residents’ Forum. Sayandeb Chattopadhyay is the convener of this musical event. The name Mohona means the confluence of two rivers. In this case, it is the confluence of music of West Bengal (India) and Bangladesh. Despite the border drawn, the language and culture between the two places is similar.

Drawing inspiration from such similar tastes in music and culture, this initiative has been undertaken to help the needy people in the area. Musicians from India and Bangladesh will be seen performing at this event. Some of the performers include Jojo, Lopamudra Mitra, Mehreen (Bangladesh), Avishek Basu and Vedatronic team.

The event is scheduled to take place on 27th January from 5.30pm onwards at Lake Road and Jatin Das Road crossing.

Cultural Academy Shrutibritto organized their 10th Anniversary Celebration at Uttam Mancha. A two day long festival comprising some enchanting performances formed an integral part of the two day celebration.

The highlight of the first day was Tagore in Sufiana while the second day’s highlight was Parampara. A recital by Katha Manobi, along with a Bharatnatyam dance by Abhijit Das engaged the audience.

“Parampara” a special presentation by Iman Chakraborty, Ridhhi Bandopadhyay, Aditi Gupta, Shwapnil Sajib (Bangladesh) and Ananda Gupta (London) also took place at the event.

The concept, script and direction of the entire event have been done by Suvadeep Chakraborty. Speaking at the occasion, he said “My students who have been part of Katha Manobi have helped challenged children at a home in Baruipur. They even went out with them during the Durga Puja. This they did out of their own”.

Wishing that the academy continues with its splendid job in the coming days and impart the knowledge to many young minds!!

41st International Kolkata Book Fair To Begin From January 28; Costa Rica Focal Country This Year

The press announcement of the 41st International Kolkata Book Fair took place in the august presence of Ashok Dey, Ashok Burman, Tridib Chatterjee, Sudhangshu Dey, Probir Kr Majumdar and others. The focal theme country is Costa Rica and the unveiling of the logo of the book fair was done at the event.

The book fair will begin on January 28 and continue till February 5 at Milan Mela from 12 to 8pm on all days. The entry is free.  The inauguration will be done by Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee.

The book fair will have a special participation of Russia celebrating seventy years of diplomatic relationship between India and Russia. The international complex will have UK, USA, Vietnam, Bangladesh, 11 Latin American countries and others.

Speaking at the occasion, Tridib Chatterjee said “Costa Rica has been selected as the focal country because they do not have an army even in such times when maximum nations are increasing their defense budgets. They instead focus on education and health and spend that amount on such issues. They have high literacy and high life expectancies. It is indeed great honor to welcome such a country at the book fair”.

The fourth Kolkata Literature Festival will also take place at the same premises between 2nd to 4th February. Writers, celebrities, sports personalities will be present at the festival. Engrossing sessions, panel discussions on films, dance are the other attractions of the festival.

Many Indian states like Telengana, Orissa, Jharkhand which did not participate beforehand will be seen in the book fair this time.

With more than forty days to go, Kolkata is getting ready for the 41st International Kolkata Book Fair.

29th Industrial India Trade Fair Inaugurated; Five Hundred National and International Exhibitors

29th Industrial India Trade Fair was inaugurated in the august presence of Janab Firhad Hakim, Bratya Basu, Sourajit Palchoudhuri, Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, Somnath Chakraborty, Md Amir Hussain Amu.

With participation of over five hundred exhibitors on the national and international level, the fair has great participation from SAARC countries like Vietnam, Egypt, Hong Kong, Thailand, Bangladesh and others.

Speaking at the occasion, Bratya Basu said “West Bengal is ready to give the investors with anything that is needed to promote industries and employment. Under the guidance of Mamata Banerjee, Bengal has overcome many shortcomings. We used to have power cuts so much. Now it has gone down considerably. Hence I urge the investors to come and invest in Bengal.”

With demonetization creating much financial crisis for the common people, the fair committee has come up with more digital payment scopes so that the people do not face any problems.

The Industrial India Trade Fair will continue till the 1st of January, 2017.
