Ranjan Ghosh’s maiden venture with Ayaan Priyanshi Films Pvt Ltd, Hrid Majharey launched their music album at the Press Club recently. Present at the occasion were music director Mayookh Bhowmick, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Kinjal Chatterjee, Abir Chatterjee, Indrasish Roy and director Ranjan Ghosh.
“Since this is a love story, the songs and music are of much importance. The four enigmatic tracks of the album are in perfect symphony with the tragic love story. The dark and vivid aspects of the script inspired from several of the Bard’s plays are complimented by the voices of eminent singers like Kaushiki Chakaborty, Kinjal Chatterjee, Ishita Chakraborty, Rajib Das and Zinia Deb Roy. Emni kore, Jaa urey, folk songs Dekhchi roop sagar e and Tomay hrid majhare rakhibo comprise the music album” said music director Mayookh Bhowmick.
Kaushiki Chakraborty who has lent her sweet voice to one of the songs in the film is a huge fan of actor Abir Chatterjee. “I really like his acting style. When I first recorded the song, I was not aware of the story of the film. It was at a later stage that I got to listen to the story. It sounds interesting and hopefully it will be interesting for the audience too” said Kaushiki Chakraborty.
Speaking at the occasion director Ranjan Ghosh said “The dichotomy of Hamlet and the witch from Macbeth help in giving the story its dark shades whereas the blind rage and envy of Othello forms the soul of the story”.
The film Hrid Majharey is about the love between Abhijit, a mathematics professor and Debjani, a trainee heart surgeon. Despite being warned by a soothsayer about not falling in love, Abhijit does fall in love. What happens next is what the story is all about. “Abir da had a great time romancing with Raima’s character Debjani in the film. I too also had great fun working in the film” said Indrasish Roy.
The film is slated for release on the 11th of July.
After the highly controversial Obhishopto Nighty, Director Birsa Dasgupta is back with his next film, this time a horror-thriller entitled Golpo Holeo Shotti with the super cute on screen pairing of Soham Chakraborty & Mimi Chakraborty.
Though, these days we get to see a new Bengali movie every other week, those that are really appreciated by the audience and create some buzz in the industry are very rare thus creating a demand for good films and Birsa’s new horror-thriller is sure to be a welcome relief as the genre of horror-thriller is one that has yet not been explored much in Tollywood.
The trailer of this upcoming Kolkata Bengali Movie was recently released on the official You Tube channel of the producers Shree Venkatesh Films and from the looks of it, this is surely going to be a pot boiler provided no glaring loopholes are spotted in the script.
With an illustrious star cast of Rajatava Dutta, Sayoni Ghosh and Neel Mukherjee along with the cute Soham-Mimi pair, Birsa Dasgupta promises to give Bengali cine goers some nail biting suspense drama this June.
Music by Indraadip Dasgupta further adds to the salability of the movie which, if executed well, surely has the potential of becoming another money spinner for the producers who have just had the grand release of the period drama Arundhati staring Koel Mallick and Indraneil Sengupta.
We wish the team the Very Best and shall be eagerly waiting for some nail biting action!

The band Mitras released their fourth music album “Mone robe kina robe” in the presence of director Rhitobrata Bhattacharya, Dr. B. D. Mukherjee, music composer Pilu Bhattacharya, Probir Guha, Indrajit Dey and Pallav Kirtaniya. This event took place at Rabindra Okakura Bhavan in Salt Lake.
The album “Mone robe kina robe” contains eight songs of Rabindranath Tagore. Some of the songs include “Mayabono biharini”, “mone robe kina robe”, “amar mon jokhon” and so on. “Mashup” is the most happening composition of this album as this is a combination of different songs of Tagore. “The album is unique and special as we have been trying to express the Bard in our own way. Tagore’s songs have been interpreted and experimented on in various ways by many artists. We are doing our bit and paying tribute to the Bard” said Sumeli Ghosh Chakraborty, the lead vocalist of the band. The band consists of five members- Sumeli as the lead vocalist, Subha as the guitarist, Partha on rhythm guitar, Suvasish on drums and Mainak is the percussionist.
Pallav Kirtaniya whose student Sumeli is the lead vocalist of the band said “I feel honored and proud that my student has come so far and given wings to her dreams. Many students come and go. Giving wings to your dreams and realizing them is important. This is even difficult for girls as after marriage their duties increase. It feels good to see Sumeli achieve her dreams”. He also stressed on the fact that the younger generation must sing more songs of protest which has lessened a bit in recent times.
The band members after the official music release of the album also performed to some songs and kept the audience hooked to their seats.
