An interactive session was organized at Oxford Bookstore with the star cast of the recently released Bengali film Hemanta. Director Anjan Dutt, Saswata Chatterjee, Gargee Roy Chowdhury, Jisshu Sengupta, Parambrata Chattejee, Sudeshna Roy and others were present at the interactive session.
Hemanta is the adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. The film is set in 2009 Bengal. The film is set in the entertainment industry and the dual lives that they lead. Hemanta is a pass out from the New York Film School. He comes back to Kolkata and learns that his father has committed suicide. He was the owner of the famous Agradoot Film Production Company. His mother, actress Gayatri ia marrying his uncle Kalyan. Kalyan is the current trustee of his father’s company. He begins investigating his father’s death. Thrilling sequences, murders, accidental deaths all lead to the final tragic ending like in the original play.
“The reason why I chose to make Hamlet because the story is relevant in today’s time too. This is the beauty of a story written by William Shakespeare. It fits in any age” said Anjan Dutt.
The music of the film is by Neel Dutt. There is only one song in the film, Sokolei Jaane and this has been sung by Anjan Dutt.
The movie released on 12th August, the same day on which Mohen-jo-Daro and Eagoler Chokh also released.
