Interview: Actress Prapti Chatterjee on Playing Shaluk in New Zee Bangla Serial Ei Cheleta Bhelbheleta (Sholoana Bangaliana Exclusive)

Actress Prapti Chatterjee who has starred in serials like Kistimat (her first serial in 2009 on Aakash Bangla), Tumi Ele Tai, Chokher Bali and others is portraying the role of Shaluk in the Zee Bangla serial Ei Cheleta Bhelbheleta. Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent caught up with the feisty actress. Read on to see what she had to say..

Priyanka Dutta, Sholoana Bangaliana- Tell us something about the role you play.

Prapti- Shaluk is a very naughty girl who is interested in pulling pranks on others. However, she is a good girl and the pranks are done just for fun. She is a school student but more than her studies she enjoys all these activities. She even bullies the hero from the moment she meets him. Eventually she warms up to him and they go to fairs, puppet shows together. This is all I can say at the moment.

Since you play a village girl, how did you prepare for the role?

Prapti- I had to attend workshops and work on my diction which is very different in this serial. It has the “Bangal” touch to it. It is very hard for me to speak in that particular diction. However, I am trying my level best to get it correct when I am shooting for the serial.

The serial boasts of some of the finest vteran actors like Anusua Majumdar and Sabitri Chatterjee. How is the experience of sharing screen space with such renowned actors?

Prapti- Oh!! I am so very excited and equally nervous at the same time. They are such big names whom I have seen acting in films and television. Now to be able to work alongside them is a huge opportunity for me. I am getting to learn so much from them in the process. This is an enriching experience for me as an actor.

Many actors have migrated from the small screen to films. Do you have any such plans?

Prapti- Well, yes, I will like to work in films. But at the moment I am too tied up with this serial. I am hardly getting the time to think of doing anything else. However, with time if I am offered a good role, you will see me in films too!!

Hoping actress Prapti makes a mark as Shaluk in her first lead role in Ei Cheleta Bhelbheleta!!
