Due to the versatility of her voice, singer Sahana Bajpaie is equally popular among music enthusiasts in Bangladesh and West Bengal for making Rabindra Sangeet popular among urban youth in the mid-2000s. She released her solo folk album Mon Bandhibi Kemone recently.
The album was released under the banner of Hindustan Records Inreco and has 8 songs of Lalon, Shah Abdul Karim and Bhoba Pagla. Rabiul Islam and Agami TV (Austin Texas, USA) have produced the folk album. Samantak Sinha and Satyaki Banerjee have arranged music for the album.
When asked how she was inspired to venture into folk music she said “I was learning from the Bauls in Shantiniketan. I was also a lead singer of a folk fusion band. My interest in folk songs continued and I sang them at concerts. This is root music and I feel great energy when I sing these songs”.
The music album is readily available at music stores. Grab your copy now!!
