With the aim of making the young readers aware of the rich heritage of Bengali literature, Starmark played the host to the book launch of ace Bengali writer Sirshendu Mukhopadhyay’s Chakrapurer Chakkare at Starmark stall in Book Fair. The veteran writer released the book himself.
The story of this book is about Abhay Sarkar who runs away to his ancestral house at Chakrapur as he is hounded by gangsters. The reason for this is that he has deposed against them in a murder trial. He arrives at Chakrapur station without a ticket and someone else’s luggage. Complications ensue and he is being chased out of weird situations. What happens next?
An English version of this story in graphic format had already been published by Starmark. The text for this Bengali edition has been translated by Sonamon Mukhopadhyay and Debalina Mukhopadhyay. The illustrations have been done by Harsho Mohan Chattoraj. Published by Starmark, the Bengali graphic novel is priced at Rs 150.

Are you hooked on to the tracks “Saturday Saturday”or “Iski Uski”? Then you are surely under the spell of the lady with the golden voice, Akriti Kakkar. The Kolkata born Punjabi singer who has not only mesmerized the audiences at the national level, but has also won hearts of the Bengali music lovers released her new single titled “Kolkata Diaries”. Present at the music launch ceremony were Joy Sarkar, Lopamudra Mitra, Raghab, Tanmoy Bose, Samidh and Sidhartha Ray.
Speaking at the occasion, Akriti said “This is my humble tribute to Bengali listeners who have given me so much love and appreciation for my work. Hence I thought of paying respect to the people with this single. This song is like a literal homecoming for me. Kolkata is like my second home. I would also like to thank Lopamudra di for helping me out with the song Hrid Majharey rakbo and also giving me valuable inputs that have helped me sing it more melodiously”.

Joy Sarkar who has composed the music for the singles said “I don’t know whether to thank or not to thank Lopamudra. Jokes apart it was during Zee Bangla’s show that the thought of doing this single struck our mind. We thought of blending the Hindi lyrics with the Bengali ones so as to reach out to a wider audience”.
Tanmoy Bose who had met Akriti at a musical concert in Seychelles was highly appreciative of her musical abilities. The tabla maestro also highlighted that singles will indeed be the future of music as this will help stop piracy.
The video of the song has been directed by Chirag Arora. The lyrics of the song have been written by Manoj Yadav who is immensely popular for his songs in Coke Studio and also for Akshay Kumar’s film Boss. The music of the single has been composed by Joy Sarkar.
The single will be released on the 31st of July by Zee Music with an exclusive launch on radio stations alongside SAREGAMAPA on Zee Bangla.
