Zee Bangla Cinema Originals film Someshbabur Sansar aired on February 28 tells the Tale of a Family and their Materialistic Pursuits


Director Suman Das’s Someshbabur Sansar is the story of Somesh babu who is a seventy year old man. His sons and the other members of his family are only interested in inheriting the ancestral home and securing their own lives. Somesh babu who is still extremely fit and energetic lives a very insecure life with his family where his existence is always threatened by them. Does his family finally succeed in conspiring against him or does Somesh babu actually put things in order and it becomes a happy family is what this film all about.


Dipankar Dey, Joydeep Kundu, Swagata Mukherjee, Biplab Banerjee, Anindita Sarkar, Animesh Bhaduri are seen in important roles in this film.

The DOP of the film is Subrata Mallik while Sujoy Dutta Roy has done the editing of the film. Ashu and Abhishek has composed the music of the film. Sudip Bhattacharya has handled the art department of this film while the script and story is by Padmanabha Dasgupta.

Someshbabur Sansar was aired on 28th Feb, 9 pm on Zee Bangla Cinema.

Upcoming Kolkata Bengali Film Jenana Posters pasted by Saswata Chatterjee and Sankar Chakraborty in an Effort to Give a New Dimension to Film Promotions


Film makers in today’s time are always on the lookout for newer techniques of promoting their films. Debutant director Barshali Chatterjee along with actors Saswata Chatterjee and Sankar Chakraborty stuck the posters of their film Jenana at Tolly studio para to start with the promotions of their upcoming Kolkata Bengali Film.


The story of Jenana is about the flourishing industry at the traffic signals in the city. Many of us come across males who change their social-sexual identity to run the livelihood. What actually propels them to select such a livelihood? This is what the film tries to find out.


Speaking at the occasion, Saswata Chatterjee said “This is indeed a great way of promoting the film. The reason why I said yes to doing this film is because the topic is unconventional and a young director has taken up this initiative to do such a film. Many experienced people will not dare to take up this subject for making a film”.


Produced by Films Be Ideal, the film boasts of a stellar cast consisting of Saswata Chatterjee, Priyanka Sarkar, Sampurna Lahiri and Sankar Chakraborty. The music of this film has been composed by Debojyoti Mishra.

The film is eyeing for release on the 11th of March 2016.

Upcoming Bengali film Monchora Team at the Annual Fest of Bhawanipur College Umang 2015


Ace film maker Sandip Ray along with his upcoming Bengali film Monchora team consisting of Abir Chatterjee and June Malia came to flag off ‘UMANG 2015’- the annual fest of The Bhawanipur Education Society College. The fest took place from 21st to 23rd at the college campus itself.


It was in the year 1999 that the expectation and magnitude of Kolkata’s college fests changed forever, with the first-ever Umang. Since then, the city eagerly awaits for the most amazing fest experience. Umang is one of the fifth best fests across Asia in recent times. It is truly the youth festival of the city. Every year a theme is decided and every person taking part contributes to bring that theme to life.


Monchora is a romantic drama based on Sharadindu Bandopadhyay’s story. Abir Chatterjee plays the role of Dibakar, a thief in the film. Raima sen, Saswata, June Malia will be seen in important roles in the film. The film Monchora is slated for release on the 1st of January 2016.

Upcoming Kolkata Bengali Film Pakhi announced; A Sports Film with Various Shades of Emotions Entwined

New-Kolkata-Bengali-filmHindi feature film “PAKHI” directed By Abhra and Akash was announced at Calcutta Rowing club in the august presence of Akanksha Singh (captain of the Basket Ball team for India), Chetan Chitnis (Marathi Hero), Jaya Seal Ghosh, Ritobrata Bhattacharya, Meghnath Bhattacharya, Bharat Kaul, Biswanath Bosu and others.

New-Bengali-film-starThe film Pakhi is about Pakhee, the daughter of a poor auto-rickshaw driver. She is a football lover and practiced the game with the local boys. She also enjoys going to the practice ground and return home all the way dribbling the ball. Habul, Pakhee’s father, forms a football team with the local boys and participates in different local tournaments. Babai, the younger son of a rich man, also has a football team, rival to Habul’s team. The fight of these two teams often spreads even outside the grounds.

upcoming-kolkata-Bengali-filmOn suddenly seeing Pakhee’s dribbling skills, Babai, who is otherwise a rival takes it upon himself to facilitate Pahee’s training in basketball. One day he kidnaps Pakhee and takes her to a basketball training camp. There, Pakhee watches the game and falls in love with basketball, as well as, her rival Babai. What happens next is what the film all about.

Bickram Ghosh will be composing the music of this film. Speaking at the press conference, the ace musician said “I am very excited to compose music for a sports film. This is a first for me and I am glad that the director actually thought of me for this job”.

The film will begin shooting soon in different parts of the city.

New Zee Bangla Cinema Originals Film Bonolota Trailer Launched; Sunday Released Film Chaturanga Trailer Receives Overwhelming Response

Zee Bangla OIriginals Film Bonolota Trailer Launched

The team of Chaturanga and Bonolota visited the Tea Treasures Festival to launch the trailer of the respective films. The films which are part of the monthly films aired on Zee Bangla Cinema Originals are the seventh and eighth film of Zee Bangla Cinema Originals.


The event saw the presence of the directors and the cast who had been associated with the films made for Zee Bangla Cinema Originals. Director-actor Sudeshna Roy was also seen engaged in a tea making session at the same event.


The film Chaturango, directed by Anindya Sarkar is a story about four friends who meet after twenty years. One of them attempts suicide. It is then they realize that how their lives have changed with the passage of time. It is a journey of women empowerment and friendship.


“The name Chaturango has been borrowed from Tagore. However the film is not the same as the story written by him. This is a story of women bonding and women empowerment” said director Anindya Sarkar.

The other film Bonolota directed by Rwik Basu is about a honeymoon couple whose vacation goes awry after they go to a lodge that they take on rent. The young director revealed that the film has many layers which the audiences will love watching on television.


After the trailer launch was over, the cast and crew of the films engaged in an adda session over steaming cups of tea.
