Bratati Bandopadhyay’s Recitation School Kabyayan Celebrates 25 Years


Renowned elocutionist Bratati Bandyopadhyay celebrated her recitation school Kabyayan’s 25 th anniversary at an event held at Rabindra Sadan. The event saw a special performance by the students of her institute. Rabindranath Tagore’s Raktakarabi was also performed by artists like Srikanta Acharya, Manoj Murli Nayar,Kalyan Sen Barat, Alok Ray Ghatak, Madhubani Chattyopadhyay, Bratati Bandyopadhyay and so on.

Bratati announced her dream ventures online kobita radio. The app which would help poetry lovers to listen to various kinds of poetry online is Bratati’s brain child. She also has a plan to make a poetry archive through this online radio service.


During the first half, students of Kabyayan presented Tagore’s Totakahini besides group recitation. The event was inaugurated by veteran Rabindrasangeet exponent Sumitra Sen, Srijato, Joy Sarkar also graced the evening by their august presence.

The entire amount of ticket sale was donated for needy elocutionists as a mark of social responsibility of her institution.

Elocutionist Sutapa Mukhopadhyay’s New Audio Album ‘Bristi Pore Tapur Tupur’ Now in Kolkata Music Stores


Artage Music and Purple Music launched the recitation album of ace elocutionist Sutapa Mukhopadhyay. The album launch ceremony took place in the presence of Tollywood actor Biswanath Basu and Mr. Subrata Dutta, Vice-President, AIFF.

Sutapa Mukhopadhyay is a History lecturer by profession. She never received any formal training for recitation. However she had the inborn talent of reciting well. It is this inborn talent which led her to perform at live shows. She also trains underprivileged children the art of recitation too.

Bengali Reciation Album- Brishti Pore Tapur Tupur Launched


Speaking at the occasion Sutapa Mukhopadhyay said “I have been reciting from a very small age. But I have never received any formal training. I always wanted to bring out a CD and showcase my skills. Hence I felt the need to bring out this CD on recitation. I will also like to take the opportunity to thank Mr. Joydip Mukherjee without whose help this music album would not have seen the light of day”.

The recitation album Bristi Pore Tapur Tupur consists of sixteen poems recited by Sutapa Mukhopadhyay. Some of the poems included in this album include Jonmantor, Abhisr, Pran, Dikha, Bisti pore tapur tupur, Kolika, Pathika, Durlobh Jonmo, Mukti and others.


Biswanath Basu who was also present at the music launch said “I came to Kolkata eighteen years back with the intention to act. I also did not have formal training in acting. Hence I could whole heartedly understand what Sutapa Mukhopadhyay was feeling with her debut CD launch. I also liked the fact that she took time out of her busy schedule and taught under privileged children. We hardly have the time now to think of others and she is doing that which is mind blowing”.

The recitation album has been priced at Rs. 100.

Bengali Story Hotashahoron Narration by All India Radio Artist Satyaki Roy


Hotashahoron is a short story based on a single character named “Hotashahoron”. That’s not his real name though; he got the name or title for his profession. Basically he entertains people by changing his makeup and character. He not only entertains people but also reduces their frustration in different ways.

“Hotashahoron ” has different clients from different classes of the society. Mainly he plays the role of a joker to get rid of the frustration of people.

Suddenly one day Hotashahoron finds that his makeup of the joker is not coming off and is sticking to him like skin. After may a vain efforts  he finally decides to use the masks of  some fearful character from next day so that he can continue with his profession even with that painted face, though in a different way now.

In this story the one & only character “Hotashahoron” addresses the audience in theatrical form and after having spent years together in entertaining people he revolts & takes the decision to challenge the mockery of this society.
