Perseverance, patience and an unwavering faith in his team are the key factors that led director Tathagata Banerjee to a successful debut in the racy thriller Sesh Anka. The conviction with which he utilized underrated actors like Deepankar De, Mir, Deboprosad Halder and Debleena Dutta gave Sesh Anka a fresh feel and look.

 

Special Mention: Birsa Dasgupta must also be applauded for his successful mainstream film ‘Sudhu Tomar Jonyo’. Eminent Bengali theater writer-director Debesh Chattopadhyay has also given us a wonderful film in ‘Natoker Moton’.

***Director Atanu Ghosh surely deserves a special mention for his social Sci-fi Abby Sen.

P.C. Chandra Group Acknowledges the Contribution of the People behind the Cameras; Technicians and Artists Awarded

P.C. Chandra Group along with Eastern India Cinetel Welfare Trust felicitated some of the technicians, yester year actors and actresses from the film fraternity. The event was a star studded one with Rituparna Sengupta and Soumitra Chatterjee also receiving the felicitation for their contribution to the film industry.

Under the P.C. Chandra Tribute, the group has been sponsoring Rs. 5000 per month for a period of one year to each, a technician, character artists and directors. The group has also been paying Rs. 10,000 per month as a monthly pension for a lead actress for a period of one year.

Speaking at the occasion, Rituparna Sengupta said “I am honored that I have been felicitated along with the other technicians and directors from the film industry. The initiative undertaken by P.C. Chandra Group is unique and I am very happy to be a part of it”.

Under the P.C.Chandra Tribute, about twenty people from the film fraternity were awarded. Baidyanath Basak (cameraman), Sushil Biswas (director), Raj Das (production manager), Khokon Das (production assistant), Sasanka Sanyal (Art director), Shiuli Majumdar (actress) and Bulbul Chowdhuri (actress) were among the people who were honored with the felicitation.

Speaking with Sholoana Bangaliana, Mr. U. K. Chandra, Managing Director, P. C. Chandra jewelers said “This is a great privilege for us to recognize those people who form the back bone of the Bengali film industry. We are lending a helping hand to those personalities from the Bengali film industry requiring such financial support and recognition. We are extremely happy at helping these individuals”.
