Highlights fashion studio and ad agency launched their Bengali Nababorsha Calendar at Princeton Club. The theme of the calendar is the women characters in the novels of Rabindranath Tagore. The women characters of Tagore have a distinctive personality of their own and they are a topic of much discussion among the people as these women characters of Tagore were way ahead of their times.
Taking into consideration the important woman characters created by Rabindranath Tagore, a unique calendar in Bengali was launched by the twelve leading city models. The twelve models portrayed the twelve women characters each for a different month of the Bengali calendar.
The models who were part of this calendar and also their respective characters are mentioned as follows- actress Payel Roy as ELA (novel- Char Adhyay), Bibriti as BINODINI, Shree as ASHALATA (novel- Chokher Bali), Supriti as BIMALA (novel- Ghore Baire), Megha as SUSHILA and Sneha as HEMNALINI (novel- Noukadubi), Patrali as CHARULATA (novel- Nashtanirh), Saheli as LABANNYA (novel- Shesher Kabita), Mahashweta as MONIMALIKA (novel- Monihara), Rooqma as MRINMOYEE (novel- Samapti), Tanusree as DAMINI (novel- Chaturanga) and Darshana as KADAMBARI DEVI, Tagore’s sister-in-law, childhood play-mate and his inspiration.
The theme and concept of the calendar was selected by Mr. Raj Saha, the managing director and the founder of the agency. The entire research work, concept development, periodical costumes and stylization has been done by stylist Oindrila Basu. The make-up has been done by famous make-up artist Nanda Majumder. Hair stylist Abinash Bhowmick is responsible for the beautiful hair styles of the models. The photography for the calendar has been done by photographer Siladitya Dutta.
This is indeed a unique initiative taken up by Highlights fashion studio and ad agency to celebrate the Bard’s 154th Birth anniversary.
It was eight years ago that The Moore Avenue Music Conference (MAMC) was started. In its 8th consecutive year, the musical extravaganza was celebrated with great musical performances at Thyagaraj Hall, Raja Basanta Roy Road. The event was organized by Picasso Entertainments. The Moore Avenue Music Conference was graced with the presence of Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta, Haimanti Shukla, Debasish Kumar (MIC), Indrani Sen, Srabani Sen and Riddhi Bandopadhyay.
Moore Avenue Music Conference was a great way of enriching and nourishing the musical memories of the people attending the musical conference for the past few years. It gave one to see the performances of some of the greatest musical personalities in Indian classical music and dance traditions. Over the past 7 years this stage has witnessed some of the greatest performances of all times & has been honored by the presence of music stalwarts like Late Pt. Manas Chakraborty, Ustad Rashid khan, Pt. Viswamohan Bhatt, Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Pt. Tanmoy Bose and many more.
This year MAMC has become even richer with the presence of Maestros like, Pt. Kumar Bose, Pt. Kushal Das, Sri Abhijit Banerji, Prof. Mohon Singh, Partha Sarathy (sarod), Indrani Mukherjee, Ruchira Panda, Alokparna Guha, Allarakha Kalavant and many more, who made the musical journey memorable for all. The first day saw the performances by Alokparna Guha (Dance- Katthak), Indrani Mukherjee (Vocal), Pt. Kumar Bose (Tabla) with Pt Kushal Das(Sitar). The second day the audience witnessed the performances of Allarakha Kalawant (Sarengi Solo),Ruchira Panda (Vocal), Partho Sarathi (Sarod), Prof Mohan Singh (Vocal).
The Baithaki ambience of the musical evening heightened the enjoyment and also increased their knowledge about the various traditions in the Indian Classical music tradition.
The Kolkata Fashion and Design Week, a fashion event that the city has been eagerly looking forward to is in full swing and the Saturday Club, the fashion week venue, can easily be touted as the most glamorous hub of Kolkata at the moment.
The Day one of this International fashion week saw some international designers present their product lines which received overwhelming response from one and all present at the show. The Tollywood glitterati also graced the occasion with their presence while a few pretty faces from the industry like Debasnita and Ushoshi did the honours of walking the ramp for designers Pushpanjali Dutta and Ashfaque Ahmed respectively.Kanchana Moitra and Rupa Bhattacharjee specially came to the fashion event to promote their new Bengali Movie 10th July and both the ladies walked the ramp in gorgeous whites, further adding to the glamor quotient of the event.
The section which got the loudest cheers from the audience was definitely the beach wear round which saw models walking the ramp in glamorous bikinis and other beach wear. The bikinis by Saurav that the models walked in, had interesting Indian themes and designs which was highly appreciated by the fashion experts present at the event.
The very first day of this fashion week received overwhelming response from the audience and the city is looking forward to an equally glamorous Day two.
