A recitation session titled Akti Sahobasher Rupkotha was organized at The Bengal Club. The initiative was taken by Mounita Chattopadhyay to pay special tribute to Rabindranath Tagore on his 75th death anniversary.

The evening saw the presence of eminent dignitaries like Srikanto Acharya, Satyam Roy Chowdhury, Joy Sarkar, Ranjan Bandopadhyay and others.

The unique literary piece has been conceptualized and penned down by writer Ranjan Bandopadhyay. “I was asked by Mounita to write down a script. I even forgot about it. Few days ago when she told me about it, that I remembered it and realized what she had done to my simple script. The work she has done is experimental and is a fitting way of paying tribute to the Bard” said the writer.

The theme of the piece is the love between Tagore and the Padma River. The Bard had actually spent ten years of his life on the banks of the river and has a personal bond with the river.

Joy Sarkar has composed the music and Moumita Chattopadhyay has lent her voice to the seven minutes long poem. The poem was launched for the first time in Youtube channel.

Speaking at the occasion, Mounita said “I have been helped a lot by the team working on this project. Joy da during the recording often pointed out the way I could recite some words so as to make it sound better. I hope people like it”.

A jugalbandi of Sarod by Dr. Rajeeb Chakraborty and poetry by Mounita Chattopadhyay later followed on.

Elocutionist Sutapa Mukhopadhyay’s New Audio Album ‘Bristi Pore Tapur Tupur’ Now in Kolkata Music Stores

Artage Music and Purple Music launched the recitation album of ace elocutionist Sutapa Mukhopadhyay. The album launch ceremony took place in the presence of Tollywood actor Biswanath Basu and Mr. Subrata Dutta, Vice-President, AIFF.

Sutapa Mukhopadhyay is a History lecturer by profession. She never received any formal training for recitation. However she had the inborn talent of reciting well. It is this inborn talent which led her to perform at live shows. She also trains underprivileged children the art of recitation too.

Speaking at the occasion Sutapa Mukhopadhyay said “I have been reciting from a very small age. But I have never received any formal training. I always wanted to bring out a CD and showcase my skills. Hence I felt the need to bring out this CD on recitation. I will also like to take the opportunity to thank Mr. Joydip Mukherjee without whose help this music album would not have seen the light of day”.

The recitation album Bristi Pore Tapur Tupur consists of sixteen poems recited by Sutapa Mukhopadhyay. Some of the poems included in this album include Jonmantor, Abhisr, Pran, Dikha, Bisti pore tapur tupur, Kolika, Pathika, Durlobh Jonmo, Mukti and others.

Biswanath Basu who was also present at the music launch said “I came to Kolkata eighteen years back with the intention to act. I also did not have formal training in acting. Hence I could whole heartedly understand what Sutapa Mukhopadhyay was feeling with her debut CD launch. I also liked the fact that she took time out of her busy schedule and taught under privileged children. We hardly have the time now to think of others and she is doing that which is mind blowing”.

The recitation album has been priced at Rs. 100.

Bengali Poetry Recitation by All India Radio Artist Satyaki Roy

An All India Radio artist, Satyaki Roy, right from the age of four has been ardently pursuing his dream of making it big in the field of Bengali Recitation and elocution, and his passion for the art indeed took him places. His profession was also guided by his love for the art guided by which he started working for the recitation and drama division of AIR and participated in many programs of AIR, “Golpo Dadur Asor” being one of them.

Satyaki has also participated in Rajyo Yuba Utsav, Calcutta Cine Festival, and All Bengal Vivekananda Institution’s Ceremony and mesmerized the audience with his soulful rendition of some of Bengal’s most prized poems.

Under the august banner of Sony Music, Satyaki released his recitation and song album in the year 2005 which again was highly appreciated by his fans and admirers.

Satyaki has also performed in popular Bangla Television channels namely ETV, Akash Banglaand, Zee Tv has also done live shows at Rabindra Sadan, Salt Lake Stadium, Burdwan Utsav, Kolkata Utsav Etc.

Leading regional and national newspapers like, Andabazar, Times of India,  Hindustan Times, Asian Age, Bartamaan, Protidin, Saptahik Bartamaan, Anondomela have always extensively covered Satyaki’s performances and published beautiful reviews too.

Satyaki Roy is currently working as a voice over artist and is also composing music for several new Bengali Films which are soon to be released.

Rightly termed as the ‘Man with the Golden Voice’ by an entertainment web portal, Satyaki with his beautiful voice and unbeatable command over poetic renditions is indeed a gifted artist and we wish him the Very Best for his future pursuits.
