Upcoming Bengali Film Jamai Boron character Gullu gets a sweet named after her; A Nalin Chandra Das Initiative


Inspired by the character Gullu of the upcoming Bengali film Jamai Boron, Nalin Chandra Das introduced the Gullu sweet at their Rashbehari shop. The event was graced by the presence of actress Suchandra Vania who plays the role of Gullu in the film. Accompanying her was director Arunava Mukherjee and Rohan Bhattacharjee.


The story of the film Jamai Boron revolves around Gopal who is an employee at a private company. His boss Makhan Tolapatra adores him and even says that he should not look at any other girl other than his only daughter Gullu. If he dares to do so, then he will be sent back to Mirchigram, near Gobindapur. Scared, Gopal tries to love Gullu. Whether he succeeds or not is what Jamai Boron is all about.

Speaking at the occasion, actress Suchandra Vania said “This is the second time for me that a sweet has been launched after a film character’s name. Bonku Babu and now Jamai Boron- I am very excited to be a part of both the films. Gullu, my character loves boxing. She loves boxing so much that she starts boxing in the middle of the road too. She is possessive about Gopal. Her favorite dialogue is Tobe re. This is one character which will genuinely make you laugh”.

The actress who loves to eat sweets however could not gorge on much sweet as she had a diet to maintain.

The new sweet has been priced Rs 10. If an order is placed, a bigger size of the sweets will be made and the price per piece has been kept at Rs 15.

The film is slated for release on the 7th of August.

Popular Bengali Sweets get a New Twist this World Cup at Nalin Chandra Das and Son’s


With the Fifa World Cup 2014 fever on the minds of every other Kolkatan, one of the famous confectioners in the city, Nalin Chandra Das and Son’s recently made World Cup special sweets to cater to the palette of the Football loving Bengali customers. The sweets made due to the World Cup have been named as Sweet Dishes and was inaugurated by Tollywood actress Priya Karfa, singer Pilu Bhattachaya and designer Lopamudra Mondal Saha at the Rashbehari branch of the confectionery shop.

English Free-Kick, Argentine Magic, Brazilian Samba, French Header and German Blitzkrieg are some of the special sweet items which will be available at this shop for the football lovers. The sweets are designed on the Brazuka ball and the sweets feature the national flags of the teams like France, Spain, Italy, Germany, England, Brazil and Argentina.


Pilu Bhattacharya who is an ardent football fan and supports Argentina said “The sweets look good and will cater to the palette of the sweet loving customers for sure. This will be a good way of extending support to their favorite teams”.

The ball and the flag shaped sweets are priced at Rs. 50 while the cup shaped one is available for Rs. 800.

With the Fifa World Cup going on, this is a great way to extend support to the team you support and gorge on sweets at their every win in the matches.
