Short film ‘The Photo Frame’ screened and Acting Workshop by Krazies Unlimited Announced

Short film ‘The Photo Frame’ screening

The Krazies Unlimited recently hosted a screening of the short film “The Photo Frame” (Frame Bondi Khela) at Gorky Sadan. The event also saw the announcement of the film and television acting workshop, 2015.

The three months workshop organized by Krazies Unlimited will have eminent theater personality Poulami Bose, actor/writer/associate director Deb Roy and director Debasish Sen Sharma acting as faculty members for the three month long acting workshop. The acting workshop will begin from 1st of August and the classes will take place every Saturday and Sunday from 5 to 7 pm.

Speaking with Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent, writer/director of The Photo Frame, Sreeparna Mitra said “We formed The Krazies Unlimited in 2011 and have been involved in making short films. We showcase them for the audience by booking halls. However when we do the shooting of the film, we understand that the young actors do not have the confidence to face the camera. Hence, we have started this acting workshop to help in grooming them. The ones who act well are selected for the short film we make and are also given a course completion certificate. We are pleased that many of the students are now working in serials in different channels like Star Jalsha”.

Amitabha Ghosh, Ashok Roy, Mou Guha and Piyali Bose acted as mentors for guiding the aspiring actors for the short film The Photo Frame. They were felicitated by Debasish Deb and Sanjoy Bardhan at the occasion.

Based on a short story by W. W. Jacobs titled The Monkey’s Paw, The Photo Frame is set in 1957 Kolkata. In the original story, a monkey’s paw was mentioned. The director replaced that idea with that of a photo frame which granted three wishes. Adept narrative style coupled with moderately good performances by the young actors make for an engrossing watch. The use of the black and white color throughout the film also helps in enhancing the supernatural tone of the story.

Efforts of this kind to encourage and groom new talents are always welcome.
