Jashn-e-Biryani at Marufaz; Biryani Festival For the Food Lovers

Marufaz, one of the most popular Mughlai restaurants in the city organized Jashn-e-Biryani or the Biryani Festival in the city. This is the second consecutive year that the restaurant is organizing this Biryani festival.

The Biryani that will be on offer includes Kachhi Biryani, Tikka Biryani, Mutton Biryani, Machli Biryani, Prawn Biryani and Moti Biryani. Care has been taken so that the vegetarian food lovers can also relish the taste of the Biryanis. Dishes like Echorer Biryani (Jackfruit Biryani) and Soyabean Biryani are also on offer for the people.

One of the biggest highlight is the Bamboo Biryani, which has been introduced by the Marufaz team for the people in the city. The flavor and aroma of the bamboo in the Biryani lend great taste to the Biryani.

The restaurant has also come up with a four course meal which consists of an appetizer, four types of kebabs, Mutton Biryani, Chicken Chaap and Firni. The pice of this meal is Rs 450.

The Biryani festival will continue at the restaurant till 31st August. The restaurant will be offering Biryani till 11pm.

Enjoy Authentic Awadhi Biryanis at The Great Awadhi Biryani Festival at Oudh 1590

In its third edition, The Great Awadhi Biryani Festival is back at Oudh 1590 with delicious vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes to cater to the tastes of the food lovers.

Chef Mansur Rahman who prefers calling him a Bawarchi had been to Lucknow to know about some special biryani and pulao recipes for this Biryani festival. About nine to ten dishes will be available for the food lovers in the festival.

Awadhi-Biryani-festival

Awadhi Nargisi Biryani, Yakhni Gosht Biryani, Shahi Paya Biryani, Keema Biryani, Gosht Bhuna Khichri, Shikari Bater Biryani, Gomti Mahi Pulao, Sugandhi Jheenga Pulao, Awadhi Palak Biryani and Subz Kofta Biryani will be available during this festival.

The Chef also informed us that the Yakhni Gosht Biryani (which is a new introduction to the festival menu) is being eaten as a light lunch item during occasions in Lucknow.

The Great Awadhi Biryani Festival began from 3rd June and will be available at both the outlets at Salt Lake and Deshapriya Park. Lunch timing is 12 to 3.3o pm while the time for dinner is from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm. A meal for two will cost Rs 800 plus taxes.

Interesting New Rice Dishes at the Kolkata GT Route Restaurant’s The Great Harvest Festival for the Food Lovers

What are the most popular dishes of rice that you can come up with? Steamed rice, pulao or Biryanis will feature on your list. But there are a lot more on offer from The GT Route restaurant which had come up with amazing rice recipes to offer to the foodies. The festival has been named “The Great Harvest Festival”.

Speaking about the festival, Chef Rupam Banik said “Rice is the staple food for a majority of the people living in South East Asia. But whenever we think of rice recipes, our thoughts are confined to either Khichdi, pulao, Biryani or steamed rice. But rice can be cooked and prepared in many other ways too. With this festival, we will be treating the customers to many untried rice recipes”.

Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian recipes have been included in this festival. Some of the recipes include Karara Chawal Kebab (shallow fried rice cake served with tamarind sauce), Masaledar Kathal Pulao (Jack fruit and rice cooked with traditional Oudhi herb and spice served with fresh coriander and dry chilli kadhi), Bag-e-Bahar Khichdi (Rice lentil and vegetable cooked together served with pickle, crispy fried potato and papad), Shahi Soya Biryani (Saffron scented soya nugget biryani served with yoghurt cucumber), Prawn Wild Rice Conjee (Wild rice and prawn thick soup served with yoghurt cucumber) and others.

Zarda Pulao (Traditional mixed dry fruits sweet pulao) have been kept in the desserts section.

A meal for two will cost Rs 650 plus taxes and will be available for lunch (12pm to 4pm) and dinner (7pm to 11.30pm).

Beginning from 5th of March, the festival will end on the 20th of March.

Shiraz Golden restaurant started Jashn-e-Biryani festival at its Mullick Bazar-Park Street crossing to cater to the needs of the Biryani loving customers of the city.

Some of the Biryanis available at this Biryani festival include Gosht Moti Biryani, Gosht Yakhni Biryani, Gosht Kachchi Biryani, Gosht Shaadi Biryani, Gosht Hyderabadi Biryani, Fish Biryani, Veg Biryani and Chicken Murshidabadi Biryani.

Music wafting in the background, exquisitely carved interiors and the exotic smell of Biryanis will surely transport you to the land of the Nawabs. The fun is you do not have to travel to Lucknow to feel it. You simply have to visit Oudh 1590, which recently opened its branch in Salt Lake (CD 86, Sector 1, Behind City Centre 1). Actress Gargi Roy Chowdhury graced the occasion with her presence.

Shiladitya Chaudhury, Partner, Oudh 1590 said “After the success of the South Kolkata outlet, we thought of expanding in the North. Hence we planned to open this outlet in Salt Lake. We have opened about a month ago and people from all over North Kolkata are coming down to taste the dishes. The response has been extremely encouraging”.

The seventy two seater restaurant’s interior has been designed by eminent art director, Nitish Roy (who has worked in films like Parinda, Fanaa, Ghayal, Salaam Bombay and others). The murals, chandeliers, floor tiles, dining table, bronze plated cutlery and crockery all will transport you to the grandeur of the Nawabi era.

Fiber glass has been used to make the intricate designs on the walls. “We could have used wood to make these designs. But that would have taken ten years to complete. Hence we used this, which is costlier than wood but is easy to use” added Shiladitya Chaudhury.

Some of the Awadhi special dishes that one can gorge on at the restaurant include Murgh Mosallam, Nehari Khaas, Brain Masala, Daal Gosht, Keema Kaleji, Sikandri Raan, Nargisi Kofta, Lasuni Palak, Paneer Rezala and Awadhi Dum Aloo.

Vegetarian dishes have also been kept at the restaurant to cater to the vegetarian food lovers. Seekh Kabab, Shahi Dahi Kabab, Corn Seekh Kabab and Galawati Kabab are some of the starters for the vegetarians.

The Awadhi special drinks on offer include Gulaab Sharbaat, Pudina Sharbaat, Soda Sikanji, Aam Khaas, Aam Sharbaat, Aam Ghol, Badaam Sharbaat and Doodh Gulaab Sharbaat.

Desserts include Phirni, Shahi Tukra, Gajar ke Halwa and Kulfi Falooda.

A meal for two will cost Rs 1000 at Oudh 1590.
