New Bengali Rabindra Sangeet Audio Music Album Batighar launched

Rabindra Sangeet CD Batighar by Subha Prasad Nandi Majumdar was released recently by Cozmik Harmony at an event organized at Gyan Mancha. The CD launch was done in the august presence of Ashis Prasad Nandi Majumdar and nonagenarian Bijoya Choudhury, uncle and aunt of Sri Subha Prasad Nandi Majumdar in presence of a host of leading luminaries from the music fraternity Subhendu Maity, Kalika Prasad (Dohar), Joy Sarkar, Shakuntala Barua, Pubali Debnath, Bipul Chakraborty, Binoy Chakraborty, Bimal Dey, Gita Choudhury and Tapasi Roy Choudhury.

The inaugural song was performed by MANJIS which was led by eminent Rabindra Sangeet singer Pubali Debnath. The launch of www.subhaprasad.me, the website of Subha Prasad Nandi Majumdar was also done at the event. A unique initiative was undertaken when the live webcast of the entire programme for global audience was done through www.subhaprasad.me.

The music album Batighar includes seven songs, Amar doshor jejon, Bodo bedonar moto, Ami keboli Swopono, Je raate mor duarguli, Aj khela Bhangar khela, O chand, chokher laglo joar. Music has been arranged by Mayukh-Mainak, (the duo who had scored music for a plethora of tele-serials and feature films and documentaries).

A solo presentation of songs ranging from Rabindra Sangeet to Assamese numbers of Bhupen Hazarika and Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, from poems of Shakti Chattopadhyay and Jibananda Das was performed by Subha Prasad Nandi Majumdar. The singing session of 120 minutes was interspersed by conversation with the singer by Ratna Mitra, an eminent elocutionist, on the varied world of music of the singer.

The unique aspect of the event was that almost the entire expense of the event was met from the donations provided by the cultural fraternity of Barak Valley of Assam.
