Best of Veg and Non-Veg Biryanis now available in North Kolkata as Oudh 1590 comes to Salt Lake

Best Biryani Restaurant in Kolkata Oudh 1590

Music wafting in the background, exquisitely carved interiors and the exotic smell of Biryanis will surely transport you to the land of the Nawabs. The fun is you do not have to travel to Lucknow to feel it. You simply have to visit Oudh 1590, which recently opened its branch in Salt Lake (CD 86, Sector 1, Behind City Centre 1). Actress Gargi Roy Chowdhury graced the occasion with her presence.

Shiladitya Chaudhury, Partner, Oudh 1590 said “After the success of the South Kolkata outlet, we thought of expanding in the North. Hence we planned to open this outlet in Salt Lake. We have opened about a month ago and people from all over North Kolkata are coming down to taste the dishes. The response has been extremely encouraging”.

The seventy two seater restaurant’s interior has been designed by eminent art director, Nitish Roy (who has worked in films like Parinda, Fanaa, Ghayal, Salaam Bombay and others). The murals, chandeliers, floor tiles, dining table, bronze plated cutlery and crockery all will transport you to the grandeur of the Nawabi era.

Fiber glass has been used to make the intricate designs on the walls. “We could have used wood to make these designs. But that would have taken ten years to complete. Hence we used this, which is costlier than wood but is easy to use” added Shiladitya Chaudhury.

Some of the Awadhi special dishes that one can gorge on at the restaurant include Murgh Mosallam, Nehari Khaas, Brain Masala, Daal Gosht, Keema Kaleji, Sikandri Raan, Nargisi Kofta, Lasuni Palak, Paneer Rezala and Awadhi Dum Aloo.

Vegetarian dishes have also been kept at the restaurant to cater to the vegetarian food lovers. Seekh Kabab, Shahi Dahi Kabab, Corn Seekh Kabab and Galawati Kabab are some of the starters for the vegetarians.

The Awadhi special drinks on offer include Gulaab Sharbaat, Pudina Sharbaat, Soda Sikanji, Aam Khaas, Aam Sharbaat, Aam Ghol, Badaam Sharbaat and Doodh Gulaab Sharbaat.

Desserts include Phirni, Shahi Tukra, Gajar ke Halwa and Kulfi Falooda.

A meal for two will cost Rs 1000 at Oudh 1590.
