Jashn-e-Biryani at Shiraz Golden restaurant; Delicious Moghlai Food to Appease the Kolkata Foodies


Shiraz Golden restaurant started Jashn-e-Biryani festival at its Mullick Bazar-Park Street crossing to cater to the needs of the Biryani loving customers of the city.

Some of the Biryanis available at this Biryani festival include Gosht Moti Biryani, Gosht Yakhni Biryani, Gosht Kachchi Biryani, Gosht Shaadi Biryani, Gosht Hyderabadi Biryani, Fish Biryani, Veg Biryani and Chicken Murshidabadi Biryani.


Ishtiaque Ahmad, Partner, Shiraz Golden Restaurant said “We have a strong customer base in the city. With this Biryani festival we will be increasing our clientele as people will be treated to some new Biryanis. Authentic Biryanis made with quality rice and good ingredients have always being the reason for the popularity of the Biryanis made at Shiraz”.


A meal for two will cost around Rs 500 plus taxes and will be available from 12 noon to 11 pm. The festival will continue till 11th March 2016.

Pep up the Independence Day weekend with a Biryani Treat at Kolkata Restaurant Marufaz Daawat


Bengalis and Biryanis are inseparable. To cater to this undying love for Biryanis, new Mughlai restaurant “Marufaz Daawat e Mughlai” organized a Biryani festival at their flagship Behala outlet. The Biryani festival was graced by the presence of Tollywood actress Koneenica Banerjee along with Chef Mustak.

So what is so new and unique about the Biryani festival held at Marufaz. Chef Mustak said “The Biryani festival is unique as we have seven different non-vegetarian Biryanis for the customers. There is also a vegetarian Biryani for the vegetarian food lovers. Hyderabadi Kachhi Gosht Ka Biryani, Murg Tikka Biryani is some of the specialities of this festival. These recipes have not been introduced in any restaurant in the city. For the Fish Biryani, we have used Bhetki”.


Mutton Lucknowi Biryani, Machli Biryani, Prawn Biryani, Moti Biryani are some of the other Biryanis on offer at the festival. Kofta Subz Dum Biryani is available for the vegetarian lovers. Zafrani Firni is also in the list to cater to the sweet tooth of the food lovers.

Koneenica Banerjee who posed for pictures readily enquired whether there is an outlet of this restaurant near her house at Bhawanipore. “I am so glad that there is a take away outlet in Bhawanipore, near my house. Yes, I love Biryanis and I do diet due to the demands of my profession. What I actually do is to eat less, but rejecting Biryani completely is not possible. Like all Bengalis I simply love this dish” said the pretty actress.


Apart from this, the normal menu of the restaurant also boasts of some yummy dishes. Chef’s special Biryani (both mutton and chicken), Chef’s special mutton are some of the special dishes in the menu. Zafrani Tangri kebab, Tandoori Babri Aloo, Paneer Tikka is some of the other important items in the list.

The Biryani festival will continue till the 15th of August in the Behala outlet of this Mughlai restaurant. The pocket pinch for two individuals will be Rs 650 plus taxes.

Abir Chatterjee unveils The Great Awadhi Biryani at the Oudh Biryani Festival; Foodies Gear up for the Royal Treat


Feluda is back again in Oudh!! If you are thinking of a sequel to the already released film on the sleuth, then you are surely on the wrong tracks. Tollywood actor Abir Chatterjee who had portrayed the role of Feluda actually unveiled the unique Biyani festival titled “The Great Awadhi Biryani” at Oudh 1590.


The organizers revealed that year long research was conducted on the background and development of this dish. During the rule of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, the interest in the game birds gained great prominence. It is then that the chefs also known as Bawarchis used their imagination to come up with the Bater (Quail) Biryani. The other Biryanis also have such stories attached to their development.


Some of the dishes that will be served to the customers during this exotic festival of food include Yakhni Gosht Biryani, Shahi Paya Biryani, Keema Biryani, Shikari Bater Biryani, Jheenga Kofta Biryani, Awadh Palak Biryani and Gomti Mahi Pulao. Palak Biryani is also included in the list to cater to the needs of the vegetarian customers.


A meal for two at the Biryani festival will cost Rs. 100 plus taxes. The Biryani festival will begin from the 27th of February. Make sure you head to the restaurant to taste the delicious delicacies. Bon Appetit!!
