The Hope Foundation, the renowned Irish Charitable Organization organized a charity quiz and debate “Knowledge Know-how Quiz & Debate” contest at iLead, Topsia. The quiz was organized with the children of NGO’s and other reputed schools across the city. The event saw the presence of renowned theatre personality Ramanjit Kaur, producer-director Satrajit Sen and actor-activist Boby Chakaraborty.
Students of schools across Kolkata such as Sushila Birla Girl’s School, Birla High School Kolkata, Lakshmipat Singhania Academy, Julien Day School, Gokhale Memorial Girls School and Future Campus participated in this event. Apart from the students from the various schools, students from NGOs like Hope Kolkata Foundation, Keertika, PBKOJP ,Jayaprakash Institute of social change also was present. Ms Jenny Browne, Overseas Director, The Hope Foundation, Ms Geeta Venkadakrishnan — Director, Hope Kolkata Foundation and Ms Annmarie Murrey – Asst. Overseas Director, Hope Foundation, were present on the occasion to address the media.
This charity quiz event was aimed at supporting the education of the street children of the city. The aim of the event was to provide the children with something more in education which the schools usually do not provide them with. These include life skills knowledge which will enable them to earn their livelihood in the future.
The quiz was conducted by professional quiz masters Mr. Abhishek Karhas and Mr. Debashish Mukherjee, both from ejunction.
Actor Bobby Chakraborty was overwhelmed and said, “It was a treat to see the underprivileged kids on the same podium as the more privileged kids.”
Events of this kind will help in boosting the confidence of the under privileged kids for sure.
