Bollywood Actor Boman Irani at INFOCOM 2016; Engaged Audience in Motivational Session It’s Never Too Late to Start

Video: Boman Irani at INFOCOM 2016

The first day at INFOCOM 2016 saw the presence of Bollywood actor Boman Irani at the motivational session. The session was titled It’s never too late to start and was about the will power and passion that every individual has and how that can be utilized to achieve something in life.

Boman Irani began the session by stating how he lost his father at a young age and how he was raised in a home full of ladies only. “That had an effect on me. I used to lisp and was dyslexic. Hence I did not score high grades. When I went for my school admission they showed me pictures where I have to use the S letter. I knew I will lisp and hence I kept quiet. I did not get the admission initially. But later they took me understanding the fact that there was some problem I was hiding” said the actor.

The actor remembered his grandmother’s words who had said that he may become anything but he must be the best in that job. “If you aim for the stars, can you land on the tree top!!” added the actor.

Boman Irani joked that though he may get to work with the top actresses in the industry, the only hitch was he was playing his father or uncle.

The actor interacted with the audience and kept them hooked. His jokes and witty remarks kept everyone amused and the slides of his life’s journey helped in keeping the session interesting.

“Promoting Bengali Films and Bengal’s Culture is a matter of Pride and Privilege”, says Shah Rukh Khan; HNY Team Visits Kolkata to Celebrate Film’s Success with Fans

Shah Rukh Khan with his Happy New Year Team Visits Kolkata

The New Bollywood Film Happy New Year Team comprising of Shahrukh Khan, Sonu Sood, Farah Khan and Vivaan Shah was in Kolkata yesterday to promote their film as well be a part of a show at Kolkata’s St. Xavier’s College celebrating the success of the blockbuster.

Though three members of the team, namely Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Boman Irani were missing owed to a shooting schedule, an ISL match and family function respectively, King Khan aptly made up for their absence by not only apologizing but also by patiently answering way too many questions than was actually scheduled.

After the patient wait, the media had a volley of questions for the King of Romance who very tactfully answered the ones that were relevant to films and in his usual graceful manner dodged the ones that were hinted towards the political scenario of the state.

One interesting aspect that came out during the conversation with the press was that SRK never reads reviews of his own films and as he puts it, “As soon as I am done with a film, I am completely done with it”; and this practice, as the superstar stated, was grilled into him during the early phases of his career by none other than Mr. Mahesh Bhatt.

Though not too many questions were directed towards the other stars, Vivaan, the youngest member of the crew was definitely asked if during the shoot he was always the prankster or the one on whom pranks were played by the seniors to which Vivaan said that it was always a very fun atmosphere during the shoot and all of them used to keep pulling each others legs and had loads of fun in doing things together.

Salmaan Khan, who has time and again been labeled as Shahrukh’s arch rival had promoted Happy New Year on his super hit reality show Big Boss 8 on Colors Channel which remained the talk of the Tinsel town for long and when asked about his reaction on the same, The Badshah that SRK is said that it was a wonderful gesture by Salman and he is very grateful to him for the same. Shahrukh Khan also said that this little gesture would also surely help in giving the industry the true picture and people will stop talking about the tussle between stars as Bollywood is one big family and everybody there works for a common goal and that is good cinema and entertainment.

Another interesting statement made by Shahrukh Khan when questioned about his duty of promoting Bengali Films was, “Promoting the culture and even the films of Bengal is neither my duty nor my responsibility, it is rather my privilege and though I am taking a little time to put things into action, I have my plans in place and will do my very best to promote the state not just because I am its brand ambassador but because I firmly believe that Kolkata is the cultural hub of the country and it needs to be carefully nurtured”.

After King Khan’s passionate involvement with cricket and his Kolkata team KKR, his not owning a football team and participating in ISL definitely came as a surprise for the city denizens and when asked, King Khan made another historical statement and said that he did not participate because he did not get the Kolkata team and he does not prefer to take up any team other than that of Kolkata and is so finicky in his choice that if not with a Kolkata team, he would prefer never playing football.

And as is the custom, just as the time for the King Khan to wish the city Good Night was closing in, requests started coming in for a dance and some selfies with Shahrukh to which SRK willing obliged and the press conference came to an end with his fans on an all-time high!

Happy New Year, directed by Farah Khan and produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainments has already broken all records and turned out to be one of the biggest Box office hits of the year and Team Sholoana Bangaliana sincerely hopes that brand SRK will continue to entertain his fans for many more years to come.

Interview: Tisca Chopra says ‘My book Acting Smart is a guide for the aspiring new talents in Bollywood’

Tisca Chopra talks about Acting Smart

Today, being International Women’s Day, it’s time to celebrate women achievers. So we bring you the much-talented actor and an insightful person, Tisca Chopra, who adds another feather to her cap! As she forays into writing with her debut book ‘Acting Smart’, which was launched recently. Tisca’s ‘Acting Smart’ is packed with nuts-and-bolts ideas, hilarious anecdotes as well as sharp advice from some of the biggest names in the industry, to guide aspirants in Bollywood.

Here’s a brief tête-à-tête with the lovely lady, who sheds light on the book and her purpose in bringing it out…

How long did it take to come up with a book? What were the struggles that you faced while penning your dream?

It took about four years. Since 2009, I have been working on it. I thought it would take less time than that, but it took enough time. Since writing is a lonely art, it needs to be given that privacy. While you are acting you just have to interact with lot of people, writing is done in isolation. I was always looking out to get into writing, but that somehow it was not happening.

Why did you choose the ‘film industry’ as your subject?

That’s because I belong to the film industry and I am a filmy person. I am not a doctor or engineer by profession. So, understandably I would do something on the film industry.

Since the book is on the film industry, were you extra cautious while writing it?

The book is not only about facts and anecdotes, there’s much more to it. It’s in no way controversial. I am not exposing the industry through my book. There were no feathers that were ruffled.

What would one gain after reading it and in what way will it prove beneficial?

The book is on the film industry, how films are made; it gives plenty of anecdotes about acting, who are the insiders, the sensational stories, etc. But most importantly it’s a guide, how and where to start for the clueless and aspiring talents. People who want to know how films are made. It’s for people who want to get a foothold or step into the industry.

From where have you taken your references?

All the people I admire in the industry have contributed to it. It’s also a compilation of my experiences.

“‘Acting Smart’ is in no controversial. “

You have also involved a lot of industrywallhas for your book?

Yes, a lot of people supported me and willingly contributed to it. From Shabana Azmi to Boman Irani to Anurag Kashyap to Prakash Jha to Shanu Sharma, et al, have contributed very nicely. Neha Dhupia to Gul Panag to Kavita Kaushik and many others have said it’s wonderful.

Will you have more series? What are your plans for the book?

It has just launched officially. We will see how the book fares and what all responses we receive. On basis of that, the second book will be decided. We have done book readings, pre-book launches and many other activities to create a buzz around the book. Let’s see what the readers have to say now.

We hear that your spouse Captain Sanjay Chopra has also participated and supported you in this endeavour?

He is a pilot and a writer. He has written many books and he’s got the right experience. He also provided many inputs to make it or present it in a certain way, especially, for those who are not from the film business and are complete outsiders. He helped me edit it nicely.

Have you adopted the ‘pen is mightier than the sword’ approach through your book, since writing gives freedom to express one’s thoughts better?

Obviously, the written word is more powerful. But whatever I have written is not revolutionary!
