Solo Program of Singer Lopamudra Mitra to Celebrate Completion of 25 Years in the Music Industry

Singer Lopamudra Mitra completed 25 years of her musical journey this year. To celebrate this feat, a grand solo program at Rabindra Sadan was organized. This year also marks the twenty years completion of Benimadhob too.

Present on the occasion were Srikanto Acharya, Rupam Islam, Anupam Roy, Bratati Bandopadhyay, Kalikaprasad, Pt. Debojyoti Bose, Antara Chowdhury, Sidhu among others.

Speaking at the occasion, the singer said “It is indeed a great feeling that I have completed so many years singing. I am blessed because people have continued to love me even after so many years. I want to continue singing for the rest of my life and entertain the audience who have given so much love!!”

She performed about twenty of her own hit numbers including Abar Ashibo Fire, Amar Mawte, Jao Pakhi and finally ending the epic evening with Benimadhob.

We wish Lopamudra Mitra all the best and hope she continues singing like this in the coming years too!!

Tagore’s Raktakarabi Performed; An Amalgamation of Different Performing Arts

Rabindranath Tagore’s Raktakarabi was staged recently at P. C. Chandra Garden. The event was inaugurated in the presence of eminent theatre personality Bivash Chakraborty.

Bratati Parampara performed Raktakarabi. The performance was presented in an audio-visual format with music and choreography to enhance the experience of the audience. This is the first ever initiative by an artist to stage this play by amalgamating different forms of performing arts.

Bratati Bandopadhyay as Nandini, Debesh Roy Chowdhury as Raja, Srikanta Acharya as Bishu, Manoj Murali Nair as Phagulal and other eminent elocutionists performed different roles. Madhubani Chatterjee was the choreographer and principal dancer of this piece.

Raktakarabi is a symbolic play by Tagore. It shows the conflict between man and machines, liberty and tyranny. This play was staged only once during Tagore’s lifetime. Few groups have attempted to stage this play later on. The first successful performance of this play was by Bahuroopee and it was directed by Sambhu Mitra. Till date this is the most successful performance of this play.

Bratati Parampara’s enactment however kept the audience mesmerized!!

Audio Album Agun Khekor Dol Shono Launched; An Initiative by MANT and Asha Audio

MANT in association with Asha Audio organized a musical event titled Mukto Beri at Nazrul Mancha. The noble initiative was started to create mass awareness about the harmful practice of Tobacco. Folk songs and a discussion with people suffering from cancer formed the main crux of the event.

Renowned vocalist Kalika Prasad along with the Chief Guest of the ceremony Usha Uthup launched the music album titled Agun Khekor Dol Shono. The music album is being presented by Asha Audio. The album has six songs and two recitations. Dohar band, Paridhi band and Lopamudra Mitra have lent their voices to the songs in the album. The recitation is by Bratati Bandopadhyay. The lyrics are by Akash.

Kalika Prasad said “At the end of the day, the album is a CD of Bengali song. Simply giving a message will not go down well with the audience. Hence the need arises to make songs and inform them of the harm that they are doing to themselves and their family”.

Speaking at the occasion, Usha Uthup said “There is no one who has not lost someone near and dear to this harmful habit of consuming tobacco. I urge the people to leave this habit. Or else your family will be at the suffering end of it. Think twice before you consume tobacco the next time”.

The event was high on entertainment yet it also raised awareness about the ill-effects about consuming tobacco.

A Musical Evening to Celebrate World Multiple Sclerosis Day

The World Multiple Sclerosis Day was observed by the World Multiple Sclerosis Society Of India, Kolkata Chapter at Rotary Sadan. The theme for this year’s World MS Day was “I am independent I am stronger than MS” – where a person suffering from this incurable and disabling disease would fight and strive to overcome the multiple challenges he / she faces daily.

The evening’s cultural event followed the same theme which featured performances by noted dancer Smt. Amita Datta, elocutionist Smt. Brarati Bandopadhyay, singer Smt. Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta and popular actor and singer Shri Arjun Chakraborty. The occasion was graced by the august presence of honorable Justice Asim Kumar Roy, Kolkata High Court, Biplab Dasgupta, notable theatre personality, Riddhi Bandyopadhyay, noted Singer. It was supported by Mjunction.

“Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a serious neurological disorder diagnosed mainly in young adults. MS is a disorder of the central nervous system (CNS). The CNS consists of the brain, optic nerves and spinal cord. Events of this kind will help in generating awareness among the people” said Arjun Chakraborty.

The evening featured great performances and kept the audiences mesmerized!!

Bratati Bandopadhyay’s Recitation School Kabyayan Celebrates 25 Years

Renowned elocutionist Bratati Bandyopadhyay celebrated her recitation school Kabyayan’s 25 th anniversary at an event held at Rabindra Sadan. The event saw a special performance by the students of her institute. Rabindranath Tagore’s Raktakarabi was also performed by artists like Srikanta Acharya, Manoj Murli Nayar,Kalyan Sen Barat, Alok Ray Ghatak, Madhubani Chattyopadhyay, Bratati Bandyopadhyay and so on.

Bratati announced her dream ventures online kobita radio. The app which would help poetry lovers to listen to various kinds of poetry online is Bratati’s brain child. She also has a plan to make a poetry archive through this online radio service.

During the first half, students of Kabyayan presented Tagore’s Totakahini besides group recitation. The event was inaugurated by veteran Rabindrasangeet exponent Sumitra Sen, Srijato, Joy Sarkar also graced the evening by their august presence.

The entire amount of ticket sale was donated for needy elocutionists as a mark of social responsibility of her institution.
