The French Film Festival on Amour et Romance was inaugurated by Mr. Stéphane Amalir, Director of the Alliance française du Bengale in Kolkata. Mr. Yadab Mondal, Chief Executive Officer-Nandan, and Mr. Bappaditya Bandopadhyay, Eminent Film maker, graced the occasion as special guest.
The three day film festival kick started on the 26th of May with the inauguration ceremony taking place at Nandan-2. The theme of this festival is predominantly love and romance. The festival will continue till the 28th of May. On the first day of the festival, Les Neiges du Kilimandjaro by Robert Guediguian and Villa Amalia by Benoit Jacquot were shown for the audience. The second day of the festival had films Amour, Sexe et Mobylette by Maria Silvia Bazzoli and Christian Lelong and Une Jeunesse amoureuse by François Caillat being shown for the audience. The third and the final day will have two films namely Angèle et Tony by Alix Delapor and The Ballad of genesis lady by Marie Losier.
Speaking at the occasion director Bappaditya Bandopadhyay said “This will be a good experience for many film loving individuals to watch some classic French romantic films. Many of the films are not readily available for viewing and festivals of this type are a good way of viewing such films. This will also be good for the wannabe directors as they will be exposed to a new style of film making also”.
