Kolkata’s Ruby General Hospital Celebrates 20 Years of Service

Veteran actor Soumitra Chatterjee graced the press conference of Ruby General Hospital announcing twenty years of dedicated service to the city of Kolkata. Dr. Kamal K Dutta , Founder Chairman Ruby General Hospital, Dr (Prof) Subir Ganguly, Clinical Oncologist and Dr. Gautam Mukhopadhyay, Onco surgeon.


On the occasion of the twenty years of Ruby General Hospital’s work in the field of medical expertise, the hospital authorities announced 200 bedded Cancer Center with world class radiation units for the patients. The FFF Varian Clinac IX, the machine which will be used for the treatment of the patients uses the Rapid Arc Technology. This will help in the three dimensional dose distribution and help in fast treatment of the cancer affected patients.


Speaking at the occasion, Soumitra Chattejee said “This is a great thing to be introduced by Ruby General Hospital. Cancer is a life threatening disease and many people usually die due to lack of treatment. The disease is diagnosed at a very late stage and this reduces the chances of survival. However with such initiatives, one will be able to make much headway in the treatment of such patients effectively”.

With the opening of this new cancer ward with the advanced machine brought from abroad, we can hope that many cancer patients will get a new lease of life.

Tollywood Hero Sohom Graces Cancer Awareness Program; Initiative by Dr.Koushik Chatterjee


Dr.Koushik Chatterjee, Senior Consultant Oncologist in the reputed Bellevue Clinic, and a Member faculty in the Department of Oncology of Calcutta PG Hospitals, hosted a cancer awareness session recently in presence of cancer survivor patients at the Punjab Club, Ballygunje Circular Road. The event which was graced by Tollywood Hero Sohom was Dr. Chatterjee’s way of thanking his patients for having had faith in him through the tough times and also creating awareness in people about the ways of preventing cancer.


Speaking at the Occasion, Dr.Koushik Chatterjee said, “It is time that the oncology fraternity in Bengal wakes up and makes an active effort to stop the health of our patients being outsourced from the southern or western corridors of India. This platform is a medium to showcase the development our state has undergone and has advanced in terms of the infrastructures to diagnose such a feared malady. As a doctor it is my duty to make the people aware that cancer is actually curable in West Bengal”.


Guest of Honor, Tollywood Actor, Soham Chakroborty, whose Upcoming Kolkata Bangla Movie with actress Mimi Chakroborty is a horror thriller and is ready for release graced the occasion by extending his support for the cause and also by felicitating the cancer survivors at the occasion.
