The “Muslin” collection by Gaurang Shah was a vision of ethereal beauty and inspired by the love stories of nature and flora. He translated them into hand woven textiles in gentle shades and white, the colour of eternal love.
The show opened with a poetic recital by Iqbal Patni whose melodious voice was the background for the models on the ramp.
Playing with white tones on fabrics like Jamdani weaves, Gaurang created the finest khadi, Kota and organza in luxurious yarns like Muga and silk.
Muslin known as ‘woven air’ was created into anarkalis, ghararas, lehengas, shararas and saris, which turned into a bohemian symphony in white. From saris to slim kurtas, fluid palazzos, lavish anarkalis, full circle lehengas, intricately embroidered cholis and blouses, Gaurang ensured that the essence of the theme was intact throughout. Crinkled muslin was brought in, teamed with solid fabrics or with shimmering gold borders. The tiered, crinkled, flared, floor-length kurtas, striped or floral embroidered saris were visions of beauty.
Ace model Carol Gracias looked divine in a broad gold bordered embroidered sari.
Bringing the show to a beautiful end was Bollywood actress, Tabu, who walked wearing a magnificent wide gold bordered anarkali over a swirling lehenga teamed with an ornate gold dupatta.
