Cultural Event “Nomi Nomi Chorone” -Tribute To Rabindranath Tagore on His Birthday


To mark the occasion of the birthday of Rabindranath Tagore, an evening of songs, dance, poetry recitation and so on was organized titled “Nomi Nomi Chorone”. This event is the joint venture of Aaarohon Music Academy and Arpezio (recording cum dubbing studio).

Singers like Srabani Sen, Riddhi Bandopadhyay, Chandrabali Rudra Dutta, Bidisha Senapati, Emon Chakraborty performed soulful songs from Tagore. Kaushik Chakraborty and Deblina Kumar kept the audiences mesmerized with their dance performances. RJ Rana, Suvadeep Chakraborty, Prabir Brahmachari, Madhumita Basu added color to the program with their recitation and narration.

Special guests at the event consisted of Debasish Kumar, Suman Chattopadhyay, Shankarlal Bhattacharya and others.

Nomi Nomi Chorone was an evening which aptly paid tribute to the Bard on his birthday.

Bengali Audio Music Album Khaniker Dekha Released; A tribute to Atul Prasad Sen, Dwijendralal Ray and Rajanikanta Sen

New Bengali Audio Music Album Khaniker Dekha launched

In the august presence of eminent personalities like Archana Bhowmick, Kalyani Kazi, Arindam Sil, Chandrabali Rudra Dutta, Pankaj Saha, Dr. Srikumar Chattopadhyay, Kajal Sur, Barun Nandy (Sagarika Music), Biswajit Chakraborty and Nandini Bhattacharya, music album Khaniker Dekha was released.


The music album is a joint effort of actor Biswajit Chakraborty and singer Nandini Bhattacharya. The musical piece is homage to the trio-Atul Prasad Sen, Rajanikanta Sen and Dwijendralal Ray. The music album is a combination of song and prose. With this album, the birth month of Rajanikanta Sen and Dwijendralal Ray was also celebrated.

The album is an attempt to showcase the fusion of the evergreen compositions of these lyricists with modern day poetry. The album has been named Khaniker Dekha after a song which is there in the album. The main aim of this album is to make the younger generations aware of the rich and unexplored cultural heritage of Bengal.


“I have not interacted much with Nandini before. I met her before at an event where she was given the duty of escorting me to an event. I had a great time during the journey as she talks extremely well. This is a great initiative that she has undertaken” said Kalyani Kazi.

Priced at Rs 100, the music album is brought out by Sagarika Music.

State Bank Park Sarbojanin Durgotsav, Thakurpukur Panchanantala Adjudged Winner of “Rhythm Dhaker Ladai 2014”


In its eleventh year ‘Rhythm Dhaker Ladai 2014’, the battle of Dhakis organized by Cycle Pure Agarbattis concluded with much fanfare. State Bank Park Sarbojanin Durgostav, Thakurpukur Panchanantala emerged winner of “Rhythm Dhaker Ladai 2014”, while Suruchi Sangha and Barisha Club were adjudged the runners up. Rhythm Dhaker Ladai also recognized the best individual performers and dhaki Kalipada Das from Suruchi Sangha was awarded the ‘Badak Srestha’ title while Animesh Bayen from Barisha Club was named the ‘Sera Sangat’.


18 Puja pandals were selected out of 45 pandals for the semifinal round by the judges’ panel on Shasthi. In the semifinal round, on Saptami three judging units comprising eminent personalities like Shri Nondon Bagchi, Smt. Manashi Mukherjee and Smt. Chandrabali Rudra Dutta visited the nominated pandals to select the best six performing Dhaki groups for the Mega Final.

Among the finalists were State Bank Park Sarbojanin Durgotsav, Thakurpukur Panchanantala, Suruchi Sangha, Barisha Club, Dum Dum Park Tarun Sangha, Sanghathirtha & Tridhara Akalbodhan.


The final of this event was held on Maha Astamee and the final judging panel constituted of renowned Indian classical singer, Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty, Tabla maestro, Pt. Mallar Ghosh and Subhen Chatterjee, who visited the six finalist pandals all day through and adjudged State Bank Park Sarbojanin Durgostav, Thakurpukur Panchanantala as the winner of “Rhythm Dhaker Ladai 2014”.

The names of the winners were declared on Maha Navami day. Apart from the ‘Rhythm Dhaker Ladai’, trophies for the Dhakis and Puja Committees, the winners were also presented with cash prizes.

Elocutionist Madhumita Basu Celebrates 25 Years of Journey on Stage


She is an elocutionist who has also a penchant for singing songs. She is none other than the talented Madhumita Basu. The talented elocutionist completed her twenty five years of stage journey and to commemorate this long journey, Onyo Ami was organized at ICCR.

Madhumita Basu began her journey as an announcer in Akashbani. Next she ventured into the world of FM as an anchor. Simultaneously she continued with her acting in Bengali films and serials. Speaking at the ocaasion she said “I am very thankful to my in-laws too. They have been extremely supportive of my decision to continue with elocution as a profession. My husband has also been equally helpful. All my work began after marriage and without their help nothing would have been possible” said Madhumita Basu.


The second part of the evening was dedicated to the album launch of the artist. The CD which is a collection of love poems of Tagore was released by Minister Arup Biswas, Srabani Sen, Indrani Sen, Devasish Kumar, Anamika Saha, Chandrabali Rudra Dutta and many other dignitaries.

Speaking at the occasion ace singer Indrani Sen said “Madhumita is my sister, just like Srabani. I am very proud that she has continued and has earned so much respect due to her hard work. I hope she does a solo program in Rabidra Sadan in future”.


Madhumita Basu kept the audience enthralled with her live recitation of poems by poets starting from Rabindranath Tagore to Joy Goswami. Bithi Chattopadhyay’s Aloukik was a special treat for the audience.

The packed audience at ICCR auditorium was enough proof of the love that the audience has for poetry and also for Madhumita Basu, the elocutionist.
