A Ghazal album Hazaar Khwaab by singer Chandreyee Bhattacharya was released recently at Satyajit Ray Auditorium (ICCR). The album was released in the august presence of veteran musicians like Nachiketa, Joy Sarkar, Sumit Ramachandran and Ratul Shankar.
Chandreyee has been learning music from eminent singer Hariharan since 2007. She also performs with the talented singer in live stage shows. Born in Kolkata Chandreyee trained under the tutelage of Geetashree Bhattacharya, who was also incidentally her first teacher. She also is her mother. She even sang a song in the film Ishq, Bengali film Parichay, Tamil film Anbe Sivam (She sung a duet with S. P. Balasubhramanium) and also in Chiku Buku.
The Ghazal album has been composed by Ashwin Srinivasan. He is incidentally also the producer of this album.
At the Hazaar Khwaab launch program, singer Chandreyee performed her songs featuring Ojas Adhiya. She performed the songs along and was accompanied on Sarangi by Allah Rakha Kalawant, Ratan Bhattacharya on the Harmonium, Roopak Dey on the Guitar.
Speaking at the occasion, singer Chandreyee said, “I had the dream of pursuing my career in Ghazals from a very tender age. I met Ashwin when I used to learn music under Harriharan ji. He played the flute then. It was then that I shared with him my dream of bringing out a Ghazal album and we began our work from 2013. First we released it in Mumbai got the feedback and now we are releasing it in Kolkata”.
This musical evening turned out to be a great delightful affair for music lovers.
Kishore Kumar Musical Evening
“Montri moshai Babul Supriyo” was the way in which Amit Kumar, son of legendary singer Kishore Kumar welcomed singer turned minister of state Babul Supriyo to an event paying tribute to the legendary singer that Shri. Kishore Kumar was. The event organized by Centrestage Entertainent celebrated the ageless musical journey of the singer with Babul Supriyo and Amit Kumar singing some of the famous songs of the singer in front of a packed audience at Kala Mandir. The evening was graced with the presence of Sandip Ray, Hon’ble Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi, Usha Uthup and others.
Speaking at the occasion, the MP from Asansol, Babul Supriyo said “Kishore Kumar and my relation can be compared with the relation of Eklavya and Guru Dronacharya. I never took lessons under his tutelage but I have grown up listening to his songs. He never asked me for my thumb but I received thumbs up whenever I sang his songs. I am always indebted to him”.
This show featured songs composed by sixteen music composers who worked with the legendary Kishore Kumar. Songs like Rahi Tha Main Awara, Jibon Kato Madhur E Jibon,Yeh Naina Yeh Kajal (sung by Amit Kumar), Neele Neele Ambar Par, Epare Thakbo Ami, Yeh Jo Muhabbat Hai( sung by Babul Supriyo) were performed at the event. Zinia Deb, Chandreyee Bhattacharya also joined both the singers for a few duet songs. Amit Kumar also sang some of the unreleased songs sung by the late Kishore Kumar at the event.
Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna turned out to be a great musical evening for the audience who had gathered in overwhelming numbers to witness this wonderful event.
