Ace Tollywood actors Prosenjit Chatterjee and Rituparna Sengupta were present at the charity show of the Welfare Society for the Blind. The duo inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp and also took part in the felicitation ceremony.
This annual Charity Show of this society is the major event for raising funds which supports the various works of this society. Founded in April 1970, the main aim of this society is to look after the welfare of the visually challenged without any distinction of caste, creed, gender and color. The society also trains and rehabilitates these individuals as supporting members of the community.
Speaking at the occasion, Prosenjit Chatterjee said “I feel privileged to come to this event and be a part of such an august gathering of people. The work that this institution had been doing is commendable and they deserve praise. I suddenly remembered a childhood incident. My father Biswajit Chatterjee organized a play for the Behala Blind School revolving around Mahanayak Uttam Kumar. I have still great relations with the school. If we continue doing such works as the institution is doing, then we all will be able to contribute something for the society”.
A book on Uttam Kumar was also released at the occasion by Prosenjit Chatterjee and he was given a copy by the visually impaired writer.

The charity show began with a grand musical event by the society’s students. This was later followed by fun satirical play Ramkrishna vs Vivekananda by the sightless group theatre Anyadesh.
