Popular Game Show For Children Lakhichhana To Start Again on Aakash Aath

Video: Lakhichhana on Aakash Aath

Popular game show for children Lakhichhana which was aired between 2002 and 2012 is making a comeback again in November on Aakash Aath. Sujan Mukherjee, better known as Neel will again be acting as the anchor along with three other characters namely Peyada, Thakuma and Jin.

The press conference of the show was held in the presence of Sujan Mukherjee, Eshita Surana, Director Aakash Aath, Somnath Roy, Director of Lakhichhana, Joy Chandra Chandra, Art Director, Lakhichhana, Shibam Mondal and Soumi Pradhan.

One of the most striking aspects of this game show is the set which is an underwater marine life picture. “This has been done so as to convey the message that we do not know many things about the deep blue sea. Likewise the inner thoughts of the kids are often not known to us. Hence the set has been designed in such a way” said Joy Chandra Chandra.

The game show has kids aged between four and ten years. Every episode has three kids who will be engaging in activities and sharing their innermost thoughts to Captain Neel. Some of the rounds that will be found in this game show are Choto mukhe boro kotha, Lakhi chaanar adalat, Jin na genious, Thakumar jhuli na dhiskaon guli and ichche holo.

“The journey of ten years with this show has been great. People actually forgot my name and called me as Lakhichhana. That is a great feeling. Apart from that, the fact that you actually have to deal with kids is a tough thing. They cannot be given a script and made to do things. One may want to go to the bathroom while the other may want to have a bar of chocolate. I have learnt much about them by interacting with them. Times have changed now. This is again a new generation. Wait and watch what these kids do and say” said actor Sujan Mukherjee.

Shibam Mondal who is a class seven student is playing the role of Peyada said “I am having a good time shooting. Now the school is closed for the holidays. When I am shooting, the teachers and my fiends help me if I miss anything. I am given off to attend class though”.

Soumi Pradhan (a student of class two) is playing the role of Thakuma. Dressed in a red bordered white sari, spectacles and a stick in one hand, the small kid is impressive as Thakuma. “I am having a good time on the sets. Somnath uncle calls me Jilepi. However the wig causes itching” said the child actress.

Lakhichhana will go on air from 14th November, Monday to Friday at 5pm only on Aakash Aath.

CRY launches ‘Project Unlearn’ on Children’s Day; Another Step towards Elimination of Child Labor

Project Unlearn which is a nationwide campaign of CRY aimed at getting the children working as laborers back to schools was launched on Children’s Day. Eminent actress- director Aparna Sen was present on the occasion to support this initiative of CRY.

The campaign will help about 28, 588 children working as child labors to get back to the schools and work towards a brighter future. It has been estimated that about 10.1 million children work in factories, dhabas, workshops and other such places and this project will try to make a difference in the lives of as many of these children as possible.

Atindranath Das, Regional Director (East) CRY – Child Rights and You said, “It will seem shocking to many that such a huge number of children are engaged in such labor. When they should have been going to the classrooms, they have to work. They are also victims of abuse and exploitation too. With the help of this project, we will be able to spread awareness among the people about this issue. We are hopeful that the individuals will extend the support to the people and unlearn the skills which rob them from their childhood”.

Eminent actress Aparna Sen who was also present at the occasion said “We must all learn to take care of our children. They are not aware of the ways of the world. We must all do out bit in presenting to them a better and brighter world. They learn through examples and if you are unkind to them, you are responsible for making them ruthless citizens”.

Around 40 children from the nearby areas of several CRY supported NGOs took the centre stage and the children participated in a colorful and fun-filled workshop on T-Shirt painting. Two upcoming artists, Samir Sarkar and Anjan Modak facilitated the workshop.

Children’s Day Made Special for the Less Privileged Kids with Unique Book Donation Campaign at Kolkata Book Store ‘Story’

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru whom we Indians also lovingly address as Chacha Nehru was a favorite amongst children as not only did he love them but also did things during his term as the prime minister that kept him locked in the memories of Indians as the messiah of children. It is his birthday on November 14 that we in India observe as Children’s Day.

Chacha Nehru always said that children should be taught to love, care and share and in keeping with this very thought of the late Prime Minister, Story organized a unique initiative ‘Share a Story’. Under this unique program one can donate books at the Story book store which will be later given to the less privileged children of the society. Prasenjit Chatterjee, theatre personality Jayant Kriplani, Sidharth Pansari and Master Arya Dasgupta were present at the occasion to encourage people to participate in this initiative as well as declare it open.

The weeklong initiative will conclude on 14th of November. Speaking at the occasion Prasenjit Chatterjee said “Events of this kind will help in bringing joy and happiness to the lesser fortunate children of our society. With the help of this effort many children will be exposed to proper reading materials and their knowledge will increase considerably. My recently released film Force is also about special children and coming to this event which is all about the less fortunate kids gives me immense satisfaction”. The actor along with Arya and Jayant Kriplani donated books from their collection for this unique initiative.

The people who will be contributing their books in this initiative will get a certificate from Story. The person will also get 20 percent discount on books and five percent discount on toys and stationery. They also get a chance to participate in a lucky draw, winning which will give them a sum of Rs. 1500 in the form of vouchers.

Sholoana Bangaliana congratulates Story on this wonderful initiative and urges its patrons to help in spreading love and education on the upcoming Children’s Day by donating books for the less fortunate kids.

“We selected Children’s Day for the release of the exclusive first look and trailer of Tollywood Hero Dev starrer Chander Pahar because the book is actually a story for the young readers. Hence we could not have got a better day for the launch of the teaser and the first look” said Kamaleswar Mukherjee. The film has been shot in various parts of Africa. “We are indeed lucky that we got the support of Srikant Mohta to finance this film. Dev, who received huge applause from the crowd after the teaser and first look launch danced with children. “I play the role of Shankar Roy in the film. This is a challenging and difficult film for me. I have fear of heights and despite that I did many sequences in the film from great heights. I have now realized that I am not fit for mountain climbing” said the actor. The actor who now seems comfortable with both the commercial and the non- commercial films, just said “Bring it on”. The actor also thanked the producer of the film as without his support a Bangla movie of such scale would not have been possible. “Think of it. The lion which has been used in the film charged 6 lakh rupees per day. Hence when such huge expenditure is required, you need a person who will back your ideas” said Dev.
