Trailer and Music of Upcoming Bengali Film Chorabali Launched; Film Releasing January 22


The music launch of the upcoming Bengali film Chorabali which is directed by Subhrajit Mitra was held recently. The music launch ceremony saw the presence of the entire cast and crew of this film.

The film Chorabali is set on the backdrop of North Kolkata. The charm of the British Raj era in contrast with the South Kolkata backdrop works well for this crime thriller.


“I have mainly stayed at the back of the camera but with this film Subhrajit has made me come in front of the camera. I will not reveal much about the character as the release date is near and this will take away the curiosity of the audiences” said Tathagata Banerjee whose debut film Sesh Anka that released in 2015 received rave reviews.


“If you have gone through the posters and the trailer of the film, I am sure you must have felt that the film has a Hollywood touch to it. The making has been so awesome that the audiences will be spellbound” said actress Tanushree Chakroborty.


Barun Chanda, Tathagata Banerjee, Tanushree Chakroborty, Locket Chatterjee, June Malia, Malabika Banerjee, Sayani Datta, Shataf Figar, George Baker will be seen in important roles in this film.


The music of this film has been composed by Dibyendu Mukherjee.

Produced by Pradip Churiwal and distributed by Macneill Media, the film is slated for release on the 22nd of January.

Upcoming Bengali Film Chorabali team at Gallery Green

The team of Chorabali consisting of Tanushree Chakraborty, Locket Chatterjee, Sayani Dutta, Malabika Banerjee, Shataf Figar and director Subhrajit Mitra were present on the occasion of the launch of Gallery Green. The new gallery is aimed for the common people to get collectables at an affordable price and also to give a platform to upcoming artists.


Initiated by India Green Reality Pvt. Ltd., Gallery Green is a unique art gallery that is aimed at giving exposure to the new and talented along with the veterans and famous. The artifacts are also priced reasonably so that people with taste for art and craft but with limited affordability can take home their buy.


Chorabali, produced by Macneill Engineering Pvt Ltd, through its posters have tried to bring back the art of canvas painting and stands for promotion of art and craft in the world of cinema.


Gallery Green is approximately 700 square feet of neatly curated space currently housing over 50 paintings and installation art. The biggest USP of the gallery is its online version through which all paintings and artifacts are reflected online for view and sales.


Subhrajit Mitra, director of Chorabali, said: “We have used different tones and colors to make it look larger than life and bring the essence of a thriller. The posters have also been created to give it a brush stroke feel.”

Actress Sayani Dutta who herself is fond of painting pictures confessed that she has now a place where she can think of showcasing her paintings.

Chorabali is slated for release on the 22nd of January.

Upcoming Bengali Film Chorabali cast and crew launches film’s logo and Max’s Autumn ’15 collection

New Bengali Film Chorabali Logo Launched

Upcoming Bengali film Chorabali’s logo was launched at the Max store in Rajarhat. The team of the film Chorabali consisting of Tathagata Banerjee, Shataf Figar, Barun Chanda, Malobika, Tanusree, director Subhrajit Mitra was present to unveil the logo of the film. The team also unveiled the Autumn ’15 collection of Max at the same event.


The film Chorabali will bring back eminent crime writer Agatha Christie on the celluloid. After Rituparno Ghosh, this is the second time that a director will be bringing the writer on screen.


Chorabali will show a young Agatha Christie, the role which has been played by actress Tanushree. The role of Hercule Poirot has been played by Barun Chanda. Malobika plays Ileana, a model and Mou plays the role of a police inspector named Ananya Rai.

Speaking at the occasion Tathagata Banerjee said “I am not an actor by profession and I am more comfortable behind the camera. I landed up with this role suddenly. The story and the script are interesting and hence I said yes to the film”.


Since the director and the cast were tightlipped about the story nothing much was revealed about the story. “Reading an Agatha Christie story is interesting but adapting her story for a film is challenging and difficult. There was another challenge that I had to make the story acceptable for the Bengali audience” said the director Subhrajit Mitra.


Tanusree who plays the role of Agatha Christie said “This is my first stint as a writer on screen. I have been a fan of the stories of Agatha Christie. To be able to portray the writer on screen is indeed a huge privilege for me. We had fun shooting the film”.

The film will release by year end.
