Gastronomix 2015 organized by NIPS School of Hotel Management; Kolkata gets a New Batch of Masterchefs

NIPS School of Hotel Management, one of the most prestigious hotel management institutes of Eastern India successfully concluded Gastronomix 2015- a unique intra college cooking competition. The grand finale of Gastronomix 2015 witnessed some delicious dishes being made by the students. The competition was conceptualized with the sole aim of testing the culinary and presentation skills of the students.

The competition began on 20th April ’15 and was divided into various stages leading up to the quarter finals, semi finals and the grand finale. 42 teams participated in the competition. Each team consisted of 4 members out of whom the deserving 15 teams made it to the grand finale. At every stage the contestants were given a particular theme and a set of ingredients with which they were to concoct a signature dish within a given timeframe.

The grand finale of Gastronomix 2015 was graced by the presence of stalwarts from the food and hospitality industry who judged the competition and applauded the innovative food ideas of the students.

The panel of judges at Gastronomix 2015 consisted of Chef Madhumita Mohanto – Executive Chef, The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata Chef Jayanta Banerjee – Executive Chef, Park Plaza, Kolkata, Chef Bhaskar Bhattacharjee – Executive Chef, Park Prime, Kolkata, Mr. Shiv Kumar Mahapatra – Learning & Development Manager, ITC-Sonar, Mr. Sudipta Halder – Training Manager, The Lalit Great Eastern. Also present at the occasion were Mr. Vivek Pathak, Director, NIPS School of Hotel Management and Celebrity Chef Joseph Uttam Gomes, Deputy Director, NIPS School of Hotel Management.

Gastronomix 2015 was indeed a great leaning platform for the budding and aspiring chefs in the city.

Ebar Jalsha Rannaghore with actress Arunima Ghosh; New Cookery Show with a Celebrity Twist

A unique cookery show is on the offering from Star Jalsha. The new cookery show is titled Ebar Jalsha Rannaghore and will feature eminent Tollywood actress Arunima Ghosh as the celebrity anchor. The shoot of this show was currently in progress at a studio located near Ruby Hospitals.

Siladitya Sanyal, the director of the show highlighted on different unique aspects of the show. He said “What makes this show unique from the other shows is the fact that this show will have members of the various Star Jalsha serials coming as the celebrity guests. Not only will the two guests come to the show and cook something, but there will be lots of adda session and also interesting games as well. A chef will also be there to judge the dish and give his comments”.

Actress Arunima Ghosh who will be acting as the celebrity judge of the show was quite excited to be part of such an initiative. “I will be getting to learn many dishes. Had the same thing being taught to me at home, I might have paid less attention. But the fun aspect of the show will surely help me in speeding up my learning of the nuances of cooking” said the pretty actress.

The screenplay of this show has been penned down by Abhinanda and Sayak.

Arunima also added that since she also started from television, this show would give her a good chance of connecting with many artists with whom she had worked on television.

Some of the most popular Star Jalsha characters who the audiences will get to see in the episodes include Amartya-Pakhi, Bhabani-Aronyo and many more.

The cookery show will begin from 3rd May, every Sunday at 7pm on Star Jalsha. Make sure you watch the show as your favorite Star Jalsha members will be present to spice up even your Sundays.

“Kaun Banega Kitchen Ka Super Star” Cookery Show Graced by June Maliah; Show to Feature on National Channel Food Food

Mobel Kitchens presented ‘Kaun Banega Kitchen Ka Super Star’ recently in Kolkata. Conducted by celebrity chef Shantanu Gupte, the show will be featured on ‘Food Food’ (TV Channel). This announcement was followed by an inauguration of a brand new range of Modular Kitchen Designs in the august presence of eminent Tollywood Actress June Malia, at Homeland Mall. The show will be aired on Food Food channel Nationwide.

The Live Cooking Show conducted by Celebrity Chef Shantanu Gupte will be an enriching experience to show off one’s cooking skills. This will enable one to bring out the best dish to the competition and become the Kolkata Kitchen Super Star. The contestant will also get to feature on India’s famous channel Food Food. Following the Live Cooking Demonstration was a Mega Cooking Competition where the registered participants were to cook their chosen dish and bring it to the venue. There were three categories namely GharKaSwad (The contestant’s most delicious Indian dish), Raseele Andaaz (A delicious desert) and Videshi Khana (A dish from a foreign country).

Grand Finale of “Rannaghare BIG Sreemati” presented by 92.7 BIG FM; A competition for the culinary talented of Kolkata

92.7 BIG FM, nation’s leading radio network presented the grand finale of “Rannaghare BIG Sreemati” recently. Popular TV host Sudipa Mukhopadhyay along with a Chef Indranil Roy Chowdhury and Pradeep Rojario acted as the judges of this cooking competition.

92.7 BIG FM has taken this initiative to celebrate the winter with the traditional cuisine of Bengal. Promising participants who are also the listeners of 92.7 BIG FM from all over the city had taken part in this culinary competition. After crossing various levels of the competition, they reached the finals.

Sudipa Mukhopadhyay said “I love to eat and coming to judge a food competition gives the foodie in me great happiness”.

According to RJ Kaushik, who was also present at the event “We have so many excellent cooks in Kolkata. They have the urge to learn and grow. The competition is a celebration of the aspiring cooks in the city. Whether one is a self taught cook or a culinary school graduate, may the best one win in the competition”.

Initiatives of this kind will help in popularizing the local and traditional cuisines and giving the budding chefs a talent to showcase their talents in front of the world.
