The concept of Ekonama is based on the future of the human race- a tragedy that may happen to them in the near future. With massive deforestation taking place all over the world, pollution levels rising, what will happen to us when there would be no trees to give us shade or oxygen to breathe? What will be live on and live for? Many of us think about the aliens invading the Earth and destroying it. But what if the disease is spreading from within? With this dance drama, Sapphire Creations aims to make the people think twice before destroying Nature. What a world will one leave behind for their children devoid of Nature or peace?

Ekonama-Rituparna-Sengupta

Guests who could be spotted in the audience were Rituparna Sengupta, Indrani Dutta, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, Abhishek Dutta and other eminent personalities.

The eighty minute production has a diverse choreography to cater to the tastes of the audience. Contemporary dance movements of the Sapphire dancers have been blended well with Chhau movement of Bengal’s famed Purulia Chhau dancers. The visually penetrating saga of the depletion of mother Nature at the hands of the human beings have been showcased elaborately in this dance drama.
