Premendra Mitra’s Novel Ora Thake Odhare on Aakash Aath’s Ek Masher Golpo in January


Ek Masher Golpo in the month of January will air Ora Thake Odhare, a novel by Premendra Mitra.

This story revolves around the contemporary fights between the bangal and ghoti in 50’s West Bengal. Just after the partition, refugees who were coming from east-Pakistan were titled Bangal. The old residents of West Bengal were ghotis. Despite being Bengalis, there are some differences in pronunciations, culture and also in rituals.


Two families start to stay as neighbors. Harimohan is the head of the ghoti family. His family consists of his wife, son Chanchal and little girl Rini. In the opposite house, lives Shibapada, his wife, son Nilu, elder sister Jashoda, Shibapada’s brother-in law Nepal and Shibapada’s orphan niece, Pramila. Chanchal teaches Pramila as a private tutor. Nilu and Rini play together happily, but the other male members of both the family often engage in a fight. They fight for the most trivial things. In the middle of this, a bond of affection develops between Chanchal and Pramila. It is revealed to the female members of both families. They agree to settle their marriage. Jashoda comes to propose Harimohan for his son but Harimohan comes to know that he has lost his job. He refuses and misbehaves with Jashoda. What happens next?


Directed by Shibangshu Bhattacharya, the script is by Padmanabha Dasgupta. Asim Mukherjee, Soma Chakraborty, Aritra Dutta, Debashree Roy, Shyamal Chakraborty, Mou Bhattacharya, Arunabha Dutta, Raju Majumder, Gopal Talukdar and others will be seen in pivotal roles in the month long series.

The story will be shown in January, Monday-Saturday at 7pm, only on Aakash Aath.

Didi Number 1 Special Episode to be Aired on March 27 Evening; Celebration of the Mother-Daughter Relationship

Popular reality show on Zee Bangla Didi Number 1 is in its fifth season. The show which had seen actresses like June Maliah, Rachana Banerjee as anchors has eminent actress Debasree Roy in its fifth edition. The program which is immensely popular among the audience had its grand opening on November 17 2013. Continuing with the trend of giving the audience surprises, the show has come up with the special Maa-Meye episode in the show. The episode will feature a bunch of celebrity daughter-mothers who will be participating in a hoard of games and fun activities.

Sonali Chowdhury-Sila Chowdhury, Sohini Sarkar-Ruma Sarkar, Sayani Ghosh-Sudipa Ghosh, Swaralipi Chatterjee-Madhabi Chatterjee are the mother-daughter pairs who will be featuring in this special episode. The episode became interesting with the mother-daughter duo participating in games like Lootpath, Sona Loot, Bumper Loot and Maha Loot. The celebrity daughters spoke about how their mothers have been their pillars of strength and have been their best friend, philosopher and guide. Debasree Roy, the anchor of this season said “The relationship between a mother and a daughter is more so of friendship. As soon as the daughter starts to grow, she becomes a friend to the mother and less of a daughter to her. This episode will highlight the mother-daughter relationship. The mothers will also get to spend some time with their daughters who otherwise are always busy with their busy schedules”. Sidhu (Sidhartha Ray) of Cactus band was also present in the episode to add some music to this beautiful event. Debasree Roy along with Sonali Chowdhury, Sohini Sarkar and Sayani Ghosh also matched steps to songs sung by Sidhu.

Zee Bangla Gourav Samman 2014 Introduces Rituparno Ghosh Award; Parambrata Chatterjee the Proud Recipient

Zee Bangla is one of the most popular television channels in Kolkata. The channel has come up with the Zee Bangla Gourav Samman 2014 to pay respect to the individuals in the field of films. The star studded event took place at Netaji Indoor Stadium.

The award ceremony began with a song performance by a group of singers led by music director Raja Narayan Deb. Singers like Sayak, Paroma, Tania, Ujjaini sang a medley of hits spanning the history of Bengali film music.

The awards were divided into two distinct categories- the first being the popular awards and the second the jury awards. Dev (Best Actor), Payel Sarkar (Best supporting actress), Jishu Sengupta (Best supporting actor), Anupam Roy (Best male playback), Akriti Kakkar (Best female playback), Tanmoy Chakaborty were some of the recipients of the awards. Bappi Lahiri was given a special award for his immense contribution to the world of music. The singer entertained the audience by singing songs like Tune mari entriyaan, Chirodini tumi je amar, Ei raat tomar amar and Ei to jibon. The Zee Bangla Gourav Samman 2014 for the first time introduced an award on the late director Rituparno Ghosh’s name. There were four recipients of this prestigious award namely- Parambrata Chatterjee, Akash Adhikari, Indradip Dasgupta and Indranil Roy Chowdhury.

Jeet Ganguli mesmerized the audience with hit songs like “Tuhi mujhko bata de”, Le paglu Dance, Bhogo Gouango and many more. Added to this, the smart and witty presentation by anchors Jishu Sengupta and Kanchan kept the audience thoroughly entertained.

The star studded event saw the presence of eminent personalities from the world of music and films. Rajatava Dutta, Anik Dutta, Anupam Roy, Debasree Roy, Prasenjit Chatterjee, Kamaleshwar Mukherjee, Abhijit Guha, Sudeshna Roy, Bappi Lahiri, Akriti Kakkar, Payel Sarkar, Parambrata Chatterjee, Indraadip Dasgupta, June Maliah were some of the eminent personalities who were present at the event.

Zee Bangla Gourav Samman 2014 was a night of entertainment, glamour and music.

SAREGAMAPA LI’L Champs Grand Finale has Asha Bhosle as Judge; Finale on January 5

The Grand Finale shoot of SAREGAMAPA LI’L Champs was shot recently at Purple Movie studios. The studio saw a huge turn up of a large number of people and also the press for the coverage of the event.

The special judge of this episode was legendary singer Asha Bhosle. The other special judge was popular singer Mika Singh. Kumar Sanu, Akriti Kakkar and Joy Sarkar who have been judging the contestants throughout the season graced the stage too. Pandit Tanmoy Bose inaugurated the program by paying a special tribute to Asha Bhosle by guiding the musicians playing a medley of the songs of the legendary singer. After the tribute to Asha Ji, Tollywood Actor Jishu Sengupta, the host of the show made a spirited entry into the auditorium in a bike. He left the audience transfixed with his great dance moves to the song “Saree k Fall sa” from the film R..Rajkumar.

The three regular judges of the show also made grand entry to the stage of the SAREGAMAPA LI’L Champs Grand Finale. While Kumar Sanu made his entry to a medley of some of his songs like “Jaan tere naam”, “Tujhe dekha toh ye jana sanam”, Joy Sarkar entered the stage with a guitar in hand and jammed with the musicians. Akriti Kakkar’s entry was nothing less than the entry made by a Bollywood actress. She descended on the stage in a swing decorated with flowers and enthralled the audience with the “Jhinku nakur” song from the Bangla Movie Boss.

Shreyas, Ronita, Chiranjeeb, Asmita and Anumita are the five finalists of the finale of this season. The judges praised them highly. Kumar Sanu said “For me the five of them are winners already. Since this is a competition, one will have to win. Otherwise they have all become great singers and I am proud of them. The love that I have got from the children is also a great achievement for me”. Akriti Kakkar however felt that they are like roses which have been waiting to blossom.

Asha Bhosle not only judged the participants but also performed to one of her evergreen songs “Piya tu aab toh aa ja”. “Respect your teacher and follow your passion” was the legendary singer’s advise to the budding talents. Mika Singh rocked the stage with songs like “gandi baat”, “taki o taki”. He even sang a duet with Akriti “paglu thoda sa karle romance”.

The other celebrities who were present at the show included Haranath Chakraborty, Debashree Roy, Purno Das Baul, Sumit Ganguly, Priya Karfa ,Anindya Pulok, Raja Narayan Deb, Shilajit, Sonali, Swapan Basu ,Ujjaini , Sidhu , Jojo, Sanchita, Sahaj Maa, Poroma , Kinjal , Priya Paul, Pota, ,Jinia, Mekhla , Arnab , Priyam  , Mollar , Chandni and Priyam.

The SAREGAMAPA LI’L Champs Grand Finale episode on January 5 at 7pm will show who  finally grabs the crown of this season.
