New Bengali Film Ghuri Press Conference
Based on Khaled Hosseini’s book The Kite Runner the story of the recently released film Ghuri is based on friendship and childhood memories. The press conference of this film took place at YMCA in the presence of director Arnab Riingo Banerjee, producer Bajrang Lal Agarwal, Joy Sengupta, Barun Chanda, Kaushik Chakraborty and others.
“The movie is about a rescue mission in which a man tried to redeem his guilt scarred childhood. Rituparno Ghosh introduced me to this book and when I read the story, I was so impressed that I thought of making it into a film. The sheer nostalgia of childhood depicted in the writing also attracted me to this story” said the director.
The challenge of making the film was also a great motivation for the director. “I had to find a place where sand was present and minimal people were around. The options came down to Mandarmoni or Rajasthan. So we shot the film in Mandarmoni as it provided the ideal location for shooting purposes. We shot the film during a very hot summer. I must give the credit to my actors and technicians for bearing the heat and patiently shooting the film” added the director.
Bimal Roy, Keya Ghosh, Piu Roy, Kaushik Ganguly, Rajesh Sharma, Aparajita, Tanaya Roy, Soham Maitra, Rohit Bhattacharya can be seen in important roles in the film.
The music and lyrics of the film is by Debjit Bera. Saptak Bhattacharya, Somlata and Soumi Gupta have lent their voices to the songs in the film.
The film Ghuri has released on 4th and is running successfully at all the leading multiplexes and single screens in the city.
