Rajani Bauler Gaan, an unusual musical extravaganza, supported by the Consulate of Portugal, initiated by Bangla Natok and eminent singer Riddhi Bandopadhyay paid tribute to poet-lyricist Rajanikant Sen. A Step for Music, a fusion based musical paid tribute to the melody maker Rajanikanta Sen in a simple way to celebrate his 150th birth anniversary year, at Gyan Mancha. The event was graced by Borbaad fame actor Mainak Banerjee.
This was for the first time that Goa Sound Trio featuring musicians like Elvis Lobo(Percussion) , Stave Francis (Acoustic Guitar), Carlos Gonsalves (Bass Guitar) performed along with Shyam Khyanpa (Baul), Deblina & Riddhi Bandyopadhyay at the event.
The initiative had been conceptualized by Riddhi Bandyopadhyay. This venture in music sounded different from the traditional flavor in music.
Riddhi said, “I have a passion to be associated with works of music where there are so many different flavors and different musicians from various fields coming together to make it a success. We have always celebrated Rabindranath Tagore. But presenting Rajanikant Sen who is an unsung melody maker is a first of its kind. We blended his style with other music styles without compromising on the originality of content. This is simply to engage the youth and also make them familiar with the works of Rajanikant Sen”.
Events of this kind will surely help youngsters to become aware of poets like Rajanikant Sen who have made unparalleled contribution to the culture of Bengal.
