Director Reshmi Mitra’s Upcoming Bengali Film Hotath Dekha Shooting in Progress; Bangladesh-India Collaborative Effort

Based on a poem by Rabindranath Tagore, director Reshmi Mitra’s film Hotath Dekha is currently being shot in different parts of the city. Sholoana Bangaliana correspondent caught up with the director and her team at Belgachia Rajbari.

The story of Hotath Dekha is the tale of Amit and Manasi. The scene that was being shot had Amit come back after faring well in the examinations. Her mother welcomes him back.

Speaking about her role in the film, Tulika Bose said “I play the role of Amit’s mother in the film. The scene we just enacted has Amit come back after faring well in the examinations. His father wants him to go abroad and study. But his mother just like other mothers is skeptical about the decision”. The actress who also stars in the popular serial Tomay Amay Mile said that she considers herself lucky for all the different characters that she could portray on screen and also for the love that she received from the audiences.

Bangladeshi actress J. S. Hemi will be seen in the role of Manasi in the film. “Manasi is the girl next door character. She loves her teacher. I am having a great time shooting in Kolkata. This is my first film and I am very optimistic about the result. I have previously featured in serials and worked as a model in Bangladesh. The love and care I have been getting from the crew is phenomenal” said the actress.

Kartick Das Baul who had lent his voice to three songs in the film will also be seen in the film. He will play his own self. “The fact that the director gave me a chance to sing Baul songs in the film is a great opportunity. I also feature in the songs. The scene that I shot today is that I come to the Zamindar house and sing a song” said Kartick Das Baul.

Director Reshmi Mitra who was busy calling the shots said “I had wanted to make a film on a story or poem by Tagore. I had only made urban films before. I had tried making a film with Rituparna based on a story by Tagore. But it did not happen. So when I was given the offer, I grasped it and opted for this story. Since this is a Bangladesh-India collaborative effort, I have shots in parts of Bangladesh too like Dhaka, Mymensingh and others. Now I am completing the shooting in Kolkata”.

Raja Narayan Deb is composing the music of the film. Kartick Das Baul, Anupam Roy, Monomoy, Subhomita will be lending their voices to the songs in the film.

Debosree Roy, Kartick Das Baul, Tulika Bose, Deep Bhattacharjee, Illyus Kanchan and others will be seen in important roles in the film.
